Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gaiden Shinji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Swift (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gaiden Shinji! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Swift! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swift defending well as Shinji loads up on a big left hand. Swift misses with a takedown attempt - Shinji sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shinji ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Swift moves away. Shinji scores with a nice head shot.
It looks like Jack Swift has been cut. Swift ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A big right from Shinji misses. Shinji misses with a body shot.
Shinji fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Swift looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Swift looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Swift lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Swift lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swift throwing shots but Shinji is blocking nicely. Shinji has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Swift is working away from the top position though. Swift slips a nice elbow through Shinji's hands, connecting with Shinji's forehead. Swift thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Swift winds up and cracks Shinji with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Swift lands with a punch from half guard. Shinji on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shinji tries to get out of the position. Shinji pushes Swift off looking to stand but Swift dives back in and keeps control.
Swift is keen to just control but Shinji is a slippery customer. Swift thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Swift lands with a punch from half guard. Swift prevents Shinji from standing back up.
Shinji is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Swift scores with a couple of nice shots. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Swift connects with a nice short shot to Shinji's temple. Swift missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Swift sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shinji defending well though. Swift takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Swift throwing shots but Shinji is blocking nicely. Swift scoring with strikes to the body and head. That's three minutes gone in the round. Shinji wants to get back to his feet. Shinji avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Swift. Shinji is staying active underneath Swift, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shinji wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Swift in side control, throwing shots but Shinji defends. Shinji knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Swift on the ground.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Swift slips a jab from Shinji. Shinji misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Swift.

Shinji stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shinji wants it to stay on the feet. Shinji swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Swift scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Shinji tries to get back to half guard but can't. Swift is chipping away with strikes.

Jack Swift dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jack Swift's cut. That's time! Shinji's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Shinji connects with a right hand. Swift shakes it off. Swift shoots for a double leg takedown but Shinji sprawls well. He's pushed Swift's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Shinji lands a jab to the nose. Shinji keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Swift shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Swift changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shinji tries to avoid it but Swift manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shinji to the ground. Shinji escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gaiden Shinji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Swift. A left and a right from Shinji both land. Nice combination. Shinji fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Swift manages to avoid it. Shinji looks to land a combination but Swift avoids it well. Nice takedown defense from Shinji. No joy for Swift on that attempt. Swift misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Swift fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shinji sprawls well initially but Swift persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Swift is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shinji is trying to get back to full guard. Swift missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Swift prevents Shinji from standing back up.
Swift moves nicely into side control. Shinji is looking for a sweep. Shinji bucks up and tries to throw Swift off but instead Swift has got his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Shinji can't escape the position.

Swift lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Swift avoiding Shinji 's attempts to control his hands. Swift is punishing Shinji with strikes - can he finish him?! Swift lands punches and elbows. Can Shinji hold on?! Swift is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Swift is persistently looking for the submission but Shinji is defending it well.
Shinji wants to control his opponent's hands but Swift gets his hands free. Swift has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shinji showing good submission defense here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! I really don't envy Shinji right now.

Swift shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shinji but Shinji pushes him off and we're back to square one. Swift shoots in looking for a takedown. Shinji tries to sprawl out of it but Swift keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shinji manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Shinji lands with a straight right. Swift didn't see that one coming. Shinji stuffs the takedown. Gaiden Shinji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Swift. Shinji bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Shinji digs a good body shot into Swift's ribs. Shinji connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Swift's hands. Gaiden Shinji seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swift takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Good shot there by Shinji. Swift shoots for a double leg takedown but Shinji sprawls well. He's pushed Swift's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Shinji dips to his left and cracks Swift with an uppercut! Shinji connects with a body shot. Shinji throws a lazy right hand but Swift sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Swift takes one on the button. Swift shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Swift won't allow Shinji to get back to his feet. Swift postures up and lands a big shot to Shinji's brow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shinji preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Swift looking to sit in guard and control but Shinji gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Swift working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shinji doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shinji manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shinji got a little sloppy there for a moment and Swift has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shinji has managed to get both his arms back between Swift's legs - danger averted. Shinji looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Swift working for a triangle but Shinji defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shinji trying to control but Swift is working from the bottom. Shinji has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Swift has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shinji can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shinji wants to stand but Swift is controlling his posture from full guard. Swift is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gaiden Shinji has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jack Swift is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Swift is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
