Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rick Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthew Davis has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rick Johnson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matthew Davis! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Johnson throws a strike aimed at the side of Davis's head but Davis avoids it well. Davis managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Johnson.
Johnson working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Davis manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground. Davis controlling the action here. Davis wants to pass to mount but Johnson is defending the position. Davis slows the pace down in half guard. Let's hope that Davis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis wants to stand up but Johnson has a hold of him and won't allow it. Johnson moves into full guard.
Davis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Davis won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet. Davis controls from within his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis stands up from guard. Let's bang! Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Davis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. The crowd cheers as Davis lands an impressive looking overhand right. Johnson doesn't seem phased though. Johnson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Davis is fending him off so far but Johnson persists. Nope, Davis circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Davis.
Davis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson stuffs the takedown. Davis fails with the takedown. Johnson misses with a takedown and Davis counters with a lovely shot to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davis looks gassed! Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davis with a poor takedown and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control. Johnson trying to control the position but Davis is working away. Johnson cracks Davis with an elbow. That is naaassty. Johnson looks up at the clock and then as Davis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Johnson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Davis takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Check out the look on Johnson's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Johnson scores with a couple of short elbows. Davis is trying to get back to half guard. Johnson in side control lands a decent elbow. Davis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Davis is not in a great position here, taking some shots. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Davis regains half guard, as Johnson was trying to land strikes. Johnson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Johnson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A telegraphed right hand from Davis misses the target. Davis slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Davis.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Davis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Davis misses with a double jab.
A combination from Davis does no damage. Rick Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson scores with a takedown into Davis's guard. Davis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Davis keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Johnson lands a couple of digs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson preventing the sweep. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Johnson stopping the sweep attempt from Davis. Davis is breathing heavily. Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Johnson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Davis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully. Davis content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is looking to stand up but Davis isn't so interested in that idea. Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Davis trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Davis preventing the sweep. Davis stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Johnson shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson. Davis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Johnson off and has taken his back! Davis controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants to escape the position.
Johnson trying to get back to his feet but Davis is in full control for now. Johnson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Davis.

Matthew Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

A jab lands there for Davis. Davis scores with a crisp jab that stopped Johnson in his tracks. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Johnson is rocked! Davis slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Davis counters with a lovely shot to the body. Johnson seems to have got his legs back now. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Davis comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Davis has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Davis lands with a right and another and another! Johnson is in big trouble! Davis lands again and this time it's lights out for Johnson! A quality knockout there for Davis.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Matthew Davis!
