PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Azizmullah Khabukthakar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Kyshtenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyshtenko is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Walk. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Azizmullah Khabukthakar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Kyshtenko!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyshtenko moves in looking to clinch but Khabukthakar pushes him off.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kyshtenko.
Kyshtenko throws a solid leg kick but Khabukthakar takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kyshtenko.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khabukthakar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kyshtenko cracks Khabukthakar with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Kyshtenko lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Khabukthakar might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kyshtenko wants to control the pace but Khabukthakar is squirming around nicely.
Khabukthakar is trying to reverse the position but instead Kyshtenko has taken his back - oops!

Kyshtenko doesn't have the hooks in and Khabukthakar manages to turn into his guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kyshtenko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kyshtenko tries to pull guard but Khabukthakar holds him up against the cage and eventually Kyshtenko drops back down to his feet.

Khabukthakar throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Kyshtenko gets control of Khabukthakar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kyshtenko will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Khabukthakar avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kyshtenko wants to control the position but Khabukthakar says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Khabukthakar slaps away a takedown attempt from Kyshtenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Khabukthakar throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Khabukthakar using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kyshtenko has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
With the fighters up against the cage, Khabukthakar throws an elbow but misses.

Kyshtenko throws a punch but it's blocked by Khabukthakar.

Khabukthakar keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kyshtenko's efforts to push away.

Kyshtenko is looking to break free of the clinch but Khabukthakar has double underhooks.
Khabukthakar misses with a knee strike.
Khabukthakar gets underhooks to prevent Kyshtenko's takedown attempt.
Khabukthakar comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Khabukthakar just misses with a elbow thrown towards Kyshtenko's brow.
Kyshtenko wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Khabukthakar has him pressed against the cage.
Khabukthakar throws a knee to the head but misses.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Kyshtenko dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kyshtenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khabukthakar works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Khabukthakar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Khabukthakar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kyshtenko defends it well.
Khabukthakar wants to pass the guard but Kyshtenko is defending well.
Kyshtenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Khabukthakar is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kyshtenko moves into full guard.
Khabukthakar wants to pass the guard but Kyshtenko is keeping the position.
Khabukthakar throws and elbow that misses. Kyshtenko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khabukthakar's guard. Nice move by Kyshtenko!

Kyshtenko is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kyshtenko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Khabukthakar is looking for a triangle but Kyshtenko pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kyshtenko drops back looking for a leg! Khabukthakar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Khabukthakar manages to kick Kyshtenko off! Kyshtenko jumps back into Khabukthakar's guard.

Khabukthakar is looking for a triangle but Kyshtenko pushes his legs off easily.

Khabukthakar could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's time! Khabukthakar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Kyshtenko tries to clinch up

and Khabukthakar counters with a single leg into guard. Kyshtenko didn't expect that.
Kyshtenko is trying to control the position but Khabukthakar postures up.

Kyshtenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khabukthakar's guard.

Khabukthakar pushes a forearm under Kyshtenko's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kyshtenko is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Azizmullah Khabukthakar!
