Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Karaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rosvo Manne! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karaev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Karaev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Manne tries to clinch up but Karaev circles away and keeps his distance. Karaev gets the takedown into side control. Karaev trying to control the position but Manne is working away. Karaev tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Karaev looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Karaev tries for an arm triangle. That's one minute gone in the round. Manne is looking for a sweep. Manne sneaks back into half guard. Karaev is trying to work for a kimura but Manne is defending well.
Karaev is breathing heavily. Manne wants to get back to full guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Karaev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Manne is just riding it out for now. Karaev eventually gives up the hold. Manne is trying to maintain the position but Karaev is very close to passing his half guard. Karaev seems to be working for a kimura but Manne defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Manne tries to roll over but Karaev keeps him under control. Manne wants to sweep but Karaev has passed to side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Karaev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Manne is looking to regain half guard here but Karaev keeps moving and retains side control. Manne manages to work his way to half guard, despite Karaev's best efforts. Karaev content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Karaev working over Manne with some ground and pound. Manne looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Karaev trying to control the action but Manne is working from the bottom. Karaev keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Manne is not content to let Karaev control the position. Karaev is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Manne is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
