Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Yarris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, James Ytlear! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yarris lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Ytlear drives through with a takedown into guard. Ytlear working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Yarris wants to stand but Ytlear is controlling the position. Ytlear pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yarris is keeping the position for now. Yarris wants to stand up but Ytlear is controlling him. Ytlear trying to control but Yarris is working from the bottom. Yarris wants to stand up but Ytlear is controlling him.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Yarris throws a right hand that Ytlear ducks under and follows up with a left that Ytlear also avoids with ease. Ytlear avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ytlear looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ytlear is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Yarris has managed to free his arm - good work. Ytlear prevents Yarris from standing back up.
Yarris is breathing heavily. Yarris is in trouble now - Ytlear has advanced to mount! Ytlear has hold of Yarris's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yarris manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ytlear moves to the back position. Ytlear slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Ytlear tries to keep control of the position but Yarris is staying busy. Yarris is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ytlear takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Yarris rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ytlear moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ytlear looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ytlear prevents Yarris from standing back up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ytlear is looking to advance position but Yarris won't allow it. Ytlear is trying for a kimura here. Yarris looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Ytlear wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Ytlear!
