Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Portos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Omar Diaz struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Omar Diaz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fred Portos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Omar Diaz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portos swats away the attempt to clinch by Diaz. Diaz shoots in but no luck this time. Diaz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Portos avoids it really well and circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz. Fred Portos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Omar Diaz. Portos drops Diaz with a beautiful combination! Diaz stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Portos is looking for the KO!
It looks like Omar Diaz has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Portos instigates a clinch. Portos prevents the takedown attempt.
Portos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Portos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard. Portos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Portos stands up and waves to Diaz to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Diaz looks gassed! Portos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Portos content to control rather than advance. Portos passes to side control. Portos is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Diaz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Portos tries to move into full mount but can't pass Diaz's legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Portos takes a little break here. Diaz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Portos decides to stand back up. Portos lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Portos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Portos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Portos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Portos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Portos tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. Portos stands and steps away. Diaz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Portos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Portos getting side control. Portos controlling the pace. Portos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Diaz is just riding it out for now. Portos eventually gives up the hold. Portos is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Portos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Portos finishes the takedown easily into guard. Portos showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Portos landing with the ground and pound. Portos landing some decent shots from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Portos stands and steps away. Diaz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Diaz is breathing heavily. Portos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Portos in particular looking to stall. Portos stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Diaz to get to his feet. Portos misses with a double jab.
Portos scores a takedown into full mount! Portos stands up from mount. Strange move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Portos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Portos controlling the action here. Portos looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Portos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Diaz defends it well. Portos controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Portos is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Portos to get the leverage. Portos not doing much here.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Fred Portos just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Diaz closes the distance but Portos moves to the side and Portos counters with a three punch combo that has Diaz backing up. Diaz nods at Portos to acknowledge the strikes. Portos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Diaz is trying to defend but Portos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Portos stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Portos scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Portos controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Portos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get! Portos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Portos persists and gets the takedown into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Portos is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Portos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Portos dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Omar Diaz's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Portos feints and then cracks Diaz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Diaz down. Portos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diaz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Portos content to stall in guard here. Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Portos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get! Excellent takedown into side control there by Portos. Portos is staying tight to Diaz's torso, preventing him from escaping. Portos tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Portos advances to mount. Portos controlling his opponent.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Fred Portos just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Portos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Portos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz being controlled here, momentarily. Portos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with. Fred Portos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Fred Portos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Portos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Portos controls the pace.
And that's the end of the fight! Fred Portos showed his dominance in that final round. Well Portos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
