PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Dash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Canti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canti has chosen Roscoe Dash - All The Way Turnt Up ft. Soulja Boy Tell'em as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Dash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Canti!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canti slips a jab and a cross from Dash.
Canti takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Canti fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dash checks it well.
Canti throws a hook to the side of Dash's head but Dash sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Canti connects with a crisp jab.
A swing and a miss from Dash.
Canti misses with an uppercut.
Dash looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Dash misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Canti.
Canti takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Canti connects with a single shot there.

Dash shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Canti manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Canti wants to stand and escape but Dash is having none of it.
Dash trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dash lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dash drops back, looking for a kneebar! Canti looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Canti looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Canti!
Dash is trying to get back to half guard.

Canti goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dash has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Canti but great work by Dash.

Dash decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dash darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Dash thows a huge punch but Canti dodges it nicely.
Dash prevents Canti from improving his position.

Canti with the active half guard here but Dash passes nicely into side control.

Dash is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Canti knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dash is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Canti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Dash is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Canti has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Canti is trying to buck Dash off.
Dash working the ground and pound but Canti is defending the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Dash dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Dash thows a body shot but no joy.
Dash throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Canti is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dash.
Dash misses with a wild body shot.
Canti shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Dash decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Canti's guard.
Dash throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Canti works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dash stands and steps away. Canti gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Canti rushes Dash and presses him up against the cage.

Dash lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dash throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Dash has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Canti is trying to stand back up but Dash is controlling him

Canti is defending against the submission attempts here by Dash.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dash throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Canti manages to get to full guard.
Dash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dash throws a strike but Canti rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dash pushes Canti off and gets back to his feet.
Dash lands a really nice looking cross but Canti seems unphased.
Dash throws a nice looking combination but Canti bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dash lands with a nice combination. Canti backs away looking to recover.
Canti keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Canti doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Dash counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dash thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Canti is trying to stand up here but Dash is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dash is trying to work for a kimura but Canti is defending well.
Canti tries to kick Dash off but Dash keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Canti keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Dash decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Canti scores with a takedown into Dash's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Canti wants to stand but Dash is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Dash dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


No joy there for Dash, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Canti misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Dash counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Dash misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dash throws a right and a left that both miss.
Canti takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dash misses with a wild body shot.
Canti scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dash doesn't seem bothered though.
Dash connects with a good right hand that stumbles Canti. Canti circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Dash looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Canti!

Dash goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Canti is on top in guard.

Canti wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Dash's closed guard. He's half up but Dash has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Dash pivots and extends the arm, Canti falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Dash! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Dash!
