Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Young I (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McDonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerald Young I! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan McDonnell! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDonnell has closed the distance and engaged Young I in a clinch.
Young I escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Young I lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

and Young I counters with a takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McDonnell is pushing Young I's head away, looking to escape. Young I manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Young I works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. The strikes coming from Young I are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Young I is putting a hurting on McDonnell here, landing some big shots from side control. McDonnell is trying to get back to his feet. Young I working the head with strikes. McDonnell is trying to buck Young I off. Young I scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McDonnell to see if he's OK. The ground and pound from Young I seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Young I throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and McDonnell works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonnell pushes Young I off looking to stand but Young I dives back in and keeps control.
Young I slips a nice elbow through McDonnell's hands, connecting with McDonnell's forehead. Young I throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McDonnell is looking to escape. Young I trying to mount his opponent but McDonnell defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDonnell pushes Young I off and gets back to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Young I. Young I tries to clinch up and McDonnell counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Young I closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McDonnell to the mat! McDonnell manages to get full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McDonnell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Young I stops McDonnell from standing up. McDonnell looks gassed! Young I slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Young I's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Young I with a flurry of punches that miss. Young I drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Young I jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Young I has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. McDonnell pushes Young I off and scrambles back to his feet.
McDonnell closes the distance looking to clinch and Young I counters by clinching up. McDonnell has Young I pressed against the cage, preventing Young I from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Young I breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young I rushes McDonnell and presses him up against the cage. McDonnell has a couple of punches blocked by Young I.
Young I is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McDonnell pulls him back up using the underhooks. McDonnell lands a hook that snaps the head of Young I backwards. A right hand to the body from McDonnell.

Young I tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McDonnell just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Young I. That's going to take a lot out of him. Young I manages to break the clinch.
Young I uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McDonnell. Young I is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Young I shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McDonnell's guard. McDonnell is working an open guard so Young I takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. McDonnell clinches up with Young I and pushes him back against the cage. Young I gets through McDonnell's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A bit of stalling here from Young I.
Young I has dropped down and is working for a takedown. McDonnell is trying to keep an underhook but Young I manages to get the takedown into half guard. McDonnell tries to kick Young I off but Young I keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young I with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Young I not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McDonnell is staying active underneath Young I, who seems content to just control the action from this position. McDonnell kicks off Young I and gets to his feet. Young I has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Young I tries for a takedown but McDonnell manages to get underhooks.
McDonnell is trying to break free. McDonnell is trying to break the clinch but Young I is controlling him. McDonnell is trying to force a seperation but Young I has the dominant position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McDonnell's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! McDonnell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Young I has him pressed against the cage. Young I wants a takedown.
McDonnell should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Young I tries to pull guard but McDonnell won't allow it.
Young I has McDonnell pressed against the cage, preventing McDonnell from circling away and getting back to striking at range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Young I dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Young I shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Young I was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Young I wants to control the pace but McDonnell is squirming around nicely. Young I working away from the top, dropping strikes. Young I tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. McDonnell wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Young I cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
McDonnell really wants to buck Young I off and get back to his feet. Young I is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McDonnell has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Young I pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Young I trying to control but he's not successful this time. Young I landing strikes from the mount. Young I is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McDonnell can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McDonnell is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Young I landing strikes from the mount and McDonnell is in trouble! Young I won't let McDonnell get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. McDonnell is bucking up trying to escape but Young I cracks him with another couple of good strikes. That's three minutes gone in the round. Young I tries to land a sweep but no joy. Young I is trying to hold McDonnell in close to prevent damage but McDonnell has managed to pass into half guard.

Young I slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Young I looking for a guillotine here but McDonnell defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Young I has a closed guard, preventing McDonnell from standing up. Young I is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Young I has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McDonnell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. McDonnell wanted to stand there but Young I had control of the position. McDonnell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Young I dominated that second round. That's time! Young I's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Young I lands a nice shot to the head. Young I unloading with bombs! Young I wants to control the pace but McDonnell is squirming around nicely. Young I tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young I working away from the top, dropping strikes. McDonnell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Young I trying to control but he's not successful this time. Young I lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
McDonnell is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Young I sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Young I has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young I punishing his opponent with strikes. McDonnell is bucking up trying to escape but Young I cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Young I fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
McDonnell is squirming around, avoiding Young I's attempts to control the action. McDonnell is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Young I has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McDonnell's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young I cracks McDonnell with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Young I pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Young I won't let McDonnell get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Young I takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. McDonnell takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Young I landing shots from mount. Young I lands a big shot there that rocks McDonnell but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Young I sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Young I postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. McDonnell looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonnell is trying to stand up. Gerald Young I overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Young I is landing with some decent strikes but McDonnell is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. You get the feeling that McDonnell really doesn't like being in this position too much.
McDonnell defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Young I. A nice elbow there by Young I. Gerald Young I is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Young I sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Young I looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Young I showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Young I, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
