Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene Carano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Travis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gene Carano! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carano stalks Travis and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Travis's face. Travis staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Justin Travis has been cut. Carano tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Travis throws the left hand but Carano avoids the punch easily. Carano tries to bum rush Travis with a series of wild strikes but Travis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Travis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Carano looking to control.
Travis forces his way into half guard. Travis not landing any meaningful shots this time. Carano tries to roll over but Travis keeps him under control. Travis content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Carano is trying to maintain the position but Travis is very close to passing his half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Travis sitting and controlling from the half guard. Carano tries to get to full guard but Travis has control of the leg. Carano blocking the ground and pound attempt from Travis. Carano is trying to control but can't.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Carano throws a nice outside leg kick. Carano looks for the body kick but Travis saw that one coming. Carano wants to clinch. Travis throws a hook but Carano blocks it. Carano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Carano tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Travis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carano misses with a series of wild punches.
Travis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Travis has knee on belly and moves into mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Travis content just to control the position here. Carano working to try and regain half guard.
Carano is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Travis looking to finish Carano with some ground and pound. This is bad for Carano! Travis controlling from mount. Travis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Carano tries to hold on but Travis postures up. Travis controlling his opponent. Travis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Travis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carano looks a forlorn figure.
Travis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. BOOM! Travis connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carano throws a head kick that misses. Carano wants to clinch up but Travis keeps it at a distance. Carano tries to clinch up. Carano has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carano there as he acknowledges the shot. Carano scores to the head and body with a nice combination! A jab from Carano misses. Travis swats away the attempt to clinch by Carano. The fight stays on the outside here - Carano looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Carano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Travis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Carano tries to clinch but Travis moves out of range. Travis looks to land a left hand but Carano moved out of range nicely. Carano fails in his attempt to clinch. Carano fails in his attempt to clinch. Travis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Carano throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Travis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Travis shoots in and bounces Carano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Carano controls Travis momentarily but Travis frees himself. Travis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Travis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Travis passes Carano's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carano is looking to control Travis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carano avoid being mounted? Travis trying to pass the guard but Carano defending well. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Carano for as long as he can get away with. Travis working the head and body with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Travis working away from the top, dropping strikes. Travis working the ground and pound effectively.
Travis landing strikes from the mount and Carano is in trouble! Travis controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Justin Travis dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Justin Travis's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Carano rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Travis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Carano moves in looking to clinch but Travis pushes him off. A telegraphed right hand from Travis misses the target. Travis thuds his right hand into Carano's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Travis throws a big shot that misses. Travis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gene Carano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carano lands a high kick!
Travis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Carano. Carano tries to bum rush Travis with a series of wild strikes but Travis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Travis lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Carano fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round. Carano throws a head kick that misses. Carano throws a body punch but Travis moves out of range. Carano on the wrong end of a nice hook. Travis throws a right hand that Carano ducks under and follows up with a left that Carano also avoids with ease. Travis throws a jab but it's blocked by Carano. Travis avoids the head kick by Carano.
Travis takes a kick to the side of the head. Carano is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Carano moves in looking to clinch but Travis pushes him off. Gene Carano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Travis lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Carano ducks under a wild hook from Travis. Travis throws a hook but Carano blocks it. Travis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Travis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Carano. Travis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Travis scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Travis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Travis preventing the sweep. Carano working a defensive guard but Travis manages to pass into side control anyway.
Carano can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Travis is staying tight to Carano's torso, preventing him from escaping. Travis working the ground and pound. Gene Carano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Carano is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The referee asks Travis politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Travis prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Carano throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Carano misses with an elbow from the bottom. Carano wants to get back to his feet but Travis is dominant here and he's now got Carano's back! Justin Travis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Carano is trying to break free.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Travis has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Carano's body.

And that's the end of the fight! Justin Travis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Travis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
