PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billiary Sclerosis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike Callan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Callan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kickstart My Heart. Spike Callan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billiary Sclerosis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spike Callan!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sclerosis. Callan shrugs it off though.
Callan takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Sclerosis feints and then cracks Callan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Callan down.
Callan shoots for a double leg takedown but Sclerosis sprawls well. He's pushed Callan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Callan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sclerosis pinned against the cage. Sclerosis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sclerosis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sclerosis is looking to clinch.

Sclerosis forces Callan back against the cage and clinches.
Callan blocks an elbow strike.

Callan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sclerosis is trying to keep an underhook but Callan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Callan throwing shots but Sclerosis is blocking nicely.

Callan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sclerosis has managed to free his arm - good work.
Callan wants to advance to full mount but Sclerosis doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Callan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sclerosis is keeping the position for now.
Callan forces his way into half guard.
Callan looks gassed!
Sclerosis trying to control but Callan postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Callan is looking to take a break and control but Sclerosis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Callan works his way into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Callan in side control, throwing shots but Sclerosis defends.
Callan tries to move into full mount but can't pass Sclerosis's legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callan cracks Sclerosis with a big right hand but Sclerosis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Callan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Callan wants to control but Sclerosis is keeping him busy.
Callan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sclerosis kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Sclerosis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sclerosis tries to bench press Callan off him but Callan keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Callan trying to control the position but Sclerosis is working away.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Callan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Sclerosis throws a series of punches but Callan moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sclerosis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sclerosis tries to clinch but Callan is having none of it.

Sclerosis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Callan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Callan postures up in Sclerosis's guard and throws a big left but Sclerosis blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spike Callan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sclerosis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sclerosis there as he acknowledges the shot.
Billiary Sclerosis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Callan moves into the clinch successfully.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Sclerosis.
With the fighters up against the cage, Sclerosis throws an elbow but misses.

Callan has hold of one of Sclerosis's legs. Sclerosis is fighting the takedown attempt but Callan gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Callan throwing strikes from guard but Sclerosis blocks nicely.
Callan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sclerosis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Callan wants to control from the top but Sclerosis keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Callan slips nicely into half guard.

Callan is working for a kimura but Sclerosis is defending it quite comfortably.
Well, if Callan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Callan is looking to take a break and control but Sclerosis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Callan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Callan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sclerosis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Callan scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Callan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sclerosis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Callan scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Callan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Callan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sclerosis dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Callan. That did some damage!
Sclerosis throws a looping overhand right but Callan ducks down to avoid it.
Sclerosis tries to clinch up

and Callan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sclerosis won't be happy with that.
Sloppy strikes there by Callan.
Callan has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sclerosis!
Callan landing strikes from the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spike Callan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Callan shoots in and bounces Sclerosis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Callan is looking to work some ground and pound but Sclerosis has wrist control.
Sclerosis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Callan on the ground.
Callan trying to control the position from guard on top but Sclerosis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Callan is stalling in the full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Callan throwing strikes but missing.
Callan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sclerosis's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Callan stands up and beckons Sclerosis to join him on the feet.
Callan lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Billiary Sclerosis has been cut.
Callan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sclerosis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Callan counters with a takedown into side control.
Callan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sclerosis keeps working.
Callan in side control, throwing shots but Sclerosis defends.
Sclerosis is not content to let Callan control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sclerosis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Callan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Callan tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Callan is trying to get an arm triangle but Sclerosis is defending well.
Callan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

And that's the end of the fight!
Spike Callan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Callan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
