Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Chong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aram kentikyan! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chong closes this distance looking for a takedown but kentikyan circles away. kentikyan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! kentikyan has managed to clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from kentikyan. kentikyan trying to land knees to the body.
Chong scores with an uppercut up the middle. Chong holding his opponent close, against the cage.
kentikyan tries to pull guard but Chong holds him up against the cage and eventually kentikyan drops back down to his feet.
Chong is trying to break the clinch but kentikyan is controlling him. Chong jumps guard but kentikyan stands there with Chong around his waist. Chong gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Chong looking to throw knees to the head but kentikyan is blocking nicely.
Chong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. kentikyan tries for a takedown but Chong circles away easily and Chong counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in kentikyan's guard now. Chong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. kentikyan is trying to control the position but Chong postures up. Chong trying to control the position from guard on top but kentikyan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chong has gone for a leg lock! kentikyan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chong's guard. Chong lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for kentikyan! kentikyan is trying desperately to improve position. Chong lands with some vicious ground and pound - can kentikyan hang on? Chong looking to finish kentikyan with some ground and pound. This is bad for kentikyan! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chong controlling the position easily from mount. kentikyan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Chong. Chong working for a guillotine from mount but kentikyan is in no mood to give up. Chong trying to control but kentikyan is having none of it. Chong jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… kentikyan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by kentikyan and Chong has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. kentikyan pushes Chong away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chong gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. kentikyan is trying to get back to half guard. Chong trying to control the position but kentikyan is working away. Chong tries to advance to mount but kentikyan denies him. Chong working the ground and pound from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. kentikyan is looking to get back to his feet here but Chong is keeping cool and he's managed to take kentikyan's back. Chong has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Chong not allowing kentikyan to control his hands. Chong sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! kentikyan taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tommy Chong!
