Meredith has chosen Four Kicks as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Chris Meredith acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bowness.

Meredith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bowness.

Bowness misses with a takedown attempt - Meredith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bowness shoots in for a takedown but Meredith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bowness closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Meredith to the mat! Meredith manages to get full guard.
Bowness has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bowness shoots in and bounces Meredith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bowness wants to pass the guard but Meredith is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meredith has his foot on Bowness's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bowness works his way back into a safe position though.
Bowness stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meredith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Meredith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bowness manages to get himself to full guard.

Bowness escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Meredith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bowness can't keep his opponent in guard - Meredith advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Meredith is trying to work for a kimura but Bowness is defending well.
Bowness on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bowness tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Meredith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bowness gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bowness fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Meredith sprawls well initially but Bowness persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bowness in particular looking to stall.

Bowness has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Meredith is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bowness.

Meredith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bowness knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bowness tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Meredith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Meredith wants to control but Bowness is keeping him busy.

Meredith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bowness is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bowness is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Meredith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Meredith is working for a submission of some sort.

Meredith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bowness is just riding it out for now. Meredith eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bowness tries to get to full guard but Meredith has control of the leg.

Meredith is working for a kimura but Bowness is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Meredith is looking to clinch.
Meredith throws a leg kick which misses Bowness's front leg but catches the back leg as Bowness tries to avoid it.
Meredith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Meredith fails in his attempt to clinch.

Bowness feints and as Meredith raises his hands in defense, Bowness changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Meredith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bowness works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Meredith tries to roll over but Bowness keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thomas Bowness showed his dominance in that final round.
