Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heff Rondavic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Smith! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rondavic displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith. Smith clinches. Rondavic tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Smith avoids it. Smith lands a takedown into guard.
Rondavic is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea. Smith working some strikes from top position. Rondavic wants to stand up but Smith is controlling him. Rondavic wants to sweep but no luck. Smith distracts Rondavic with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Smith prevents Rondavic from getting back to his feet. Smith advances position into side control! Rondavic manages to work his way to half guard, despite Smith's best efforts. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rondavic wants to get back to full guard. Smith is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Rondavic on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Smith has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rondavic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground. Rondavic regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rondavic is trying to stand.
Rondavic is breathing heavily. Rondavic wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Smith is looking for a kimura here.
Smith working the head and body with strikes. Smith drops an elbow to the side of Rondavic's head. Rondavic pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.

Rondavic is trying to escape back to his feet but Smith uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Rondavic tries to bench press Smith off him but Smith keeps the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Smith has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rondavic is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Smith yanks on the arm and Rondavic is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Smith.
