Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Shelter! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Gonzo Bunga! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bunga scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bunga is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shelter has managed to free his arm - good work. Bunga is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bunga is looking for a kimura but Shelter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bunga to get the leverage. Shelter is trying to control but can't.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shelter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shelter throws a right hand that Bunga ducks under and follows up with a left that Bunga also avoids with ease. Bunga tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shelter fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Bunga is out of range. Bunga dives in and grabs Shelter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shelter pushes down on Bunga's head and hops out. Bunga tries to clinch up but Shelter circles away and keeps his distance.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shelter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shelter! Shelter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bunga keeps working. Bunga is trying to improve his position. Bunga sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Shelter postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bunga to stand up. Shelter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Shelter is trying to defend but Bunga finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bunga drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shelter dives on top into guard. Shelter trying to control the position from guard on top but Bunga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shelter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Bunga is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shelter defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shelter wants to get up but he can't break Bunga's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Bunga keeping moving, preventing Shelter from controlling successfully. Shelter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shelter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Bunga has an active guard here but Shelter has managed to pass into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Anderson Shelter will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Bunga fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shelter, as that shot connected.
Bunga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shelter's waist but Shelter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bunga off to one side. Bunga closes the distance and clinches up with Shelter, looking for a takedown. Bunga pushes Shelter against the cage but Shelter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Anderson Shelter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gonzo Bunga. Shelter is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bunga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shelter tries to avoid it but Bunga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shelter to the ground. Shelter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shelter takes a swing at Bunga's ribcage but misses. Bunga fails with a takedown attempt. Bunga shoots for a double leg takedown but Shelter sprawls well. He's pushed Bunga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bunga is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bunga takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Shelter looks for a takedown but Bunga sprawls well. Bunga tries for a takedown but Shelter circles away easily and Shelter counters with a thumping low kick. Shelter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bunga circles away. Shelter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shelter lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bunga's sensitive parts. Bunga wants to clinch up but Shelter keeps it at a distance. Bunga gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shelter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Shelter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bunga as he avoids it easily. Gonzo Bunga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shelter misses with a few strikes there.

Shelter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bunga is working away from the top position though. Bunga moves nicely into side control. Shelter gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Bunga throwing shots but Shelter is blocking nicely. Bunga slips a nice elbow through Shelter's hands, connecting with Shelter's forehead. Bunga looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Shelter has picked Bunga up and slammed him! Bunga can't keep hold of the triangle and Shelter manages to pass to side control! Shelter decides to take the fight back to the feet. Bunga doesn't succeed with the takedown and Shelter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shelter. Shelter throws a big right hand that misses. Bunga is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bunga shoots and misses and Shelter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Shelter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Shelter throws a right hand that Bunga ducks under and follows up with a left that Bunga also avoids with ease. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shelter pushes Bunga up against the cage in a clinch.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Shelter wants to control from the top but Bunga keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shelter shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Shelter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Gonzo Bunga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shelter is trying to control the action in half guard but Bunga is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Anderson Shelter showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shelter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
