PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christian Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichabod Klopfenstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klopfenstein is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Freebird. Ichabod Klopfenstein told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Keller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ichabod Klopfenstein !
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klopfenstein does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Klopfenstein loads up on a big right hand but Keller slips the punch.
Keller takes one to the chin there.
Keller swats away the attempt to clinch by Klopfenstein .
Klopfenstein is looking to clinch but Keller is avoiding it.
Ichabod Klopfenstein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Klopfenstein drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Klopfenstein throws a strike but Keller rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Klopfenstein is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Keller drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Klopfenstein dives on top into guard.
Keller tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Klopfenstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Klopfenstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Keller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Klopfenstein counters with a leg kick.

Klopfenstein gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Keller has gone for a leg lock! Klopfenstein slips out almost immediately though and dives into Keller's guard.
Klopfenstein wants to control from the top but Keller keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Klopfenstein is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Klopfenstein pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Keller is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Klopfenstein accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Keller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Klopfenstein controls the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Klopfenstein in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Klopfenstein postures up in Keller's guard and throws a big left but Keller blocks it.
Keller avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Keller avoids the head kick by Klopfenstein .
Klopfenstein connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Keller is breathing heavily.
Klopfenstein misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Keller gets caught flat footed, as Klopfenstein shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Klopfenstein trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Well, if Klopfenstein is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Klopfenstein is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Keller reverses the position - he's now on top in Klopfenstein 's guard.

Keller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Klopfenstein manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Keller has Klopfenstein in his guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Klopfenstein is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Let's hope that Klopfenstein has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ichabod Klopfenstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Despite being in the dominant position, Ichabod Klopfenstein just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Klopfenstein dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Keller. That did some damage!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ichabod Klopfenstein comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Klopfenstein has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
