The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berg throws a series of punches but Patterson moves out of range.
Patterson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Patterson tries to clinch there but Berg circles away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Berg.
Berg drops Patterson with a beautiful combination! Patterson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Berg is looking for the KO!
Patterson is rocked!
It looks like Rick Patterson has been cut.
Berg drives through and clinches with Patterson against the cage.
Patterson is still on wobbly legs! Can Berg finish him?
A quick uppercut on the inside from Berg.
Berg lands an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Berg has had enough of the clinch but Patterson keeps him there for the moment.
Berg wants to break free but Patterson has control.
Patterson seems to have recovered his senses.
Berg is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A right hook to the body lands for Berg.
Patterson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Berg pulls his leg out and moves away.
Berg tries to bum rush Patterson with a series of wild strikes but Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Berg drops Patterson with a big left hand and mounts him. Patterson is in big trouble!
Berg stands up from mount. Strange move.
Berg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Franz Berg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Berg, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Patterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Berg pinned against the cage. Berg gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Some wild striking there from Berg.
Berg drops Patterson with a left right combo! Berg follows him down to the ground into side control.
Berg wants to stand but Patterson is controlling his arm.
Berg stands up.
Berg drops Patterson with a left and a right! Oh, Patterson is hurt - Berg dives into side control looking to finish!
Patterson tries to bench press Berg off him but Berg keeps the position.
Patterson struggling a bit here.
Patterson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berg prevents Patterson from improving his position.
Patterson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Berg seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Patterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Berg wants to get up but he can't break Patterson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Berg decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Berg instigates a clinch.
Patterson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Franz Berg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Patterson.
Berg scores with a shot to the side of Patterson's head.

Berg breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Berg rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Patterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Berg forces Patterson back against the cage and clinches.
Berg lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Berg lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Patterson backwards.
Berg works on Patterson's body with a couple of short punches.
Berg lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Patterson keeps control of Berg as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Berg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A combination from Berg does no damage.
Berg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Berg throws an overhand right that has Patterson reeling! Berg follows up with a more punches and Patterson is out cold! This one is all over!
