PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Escobar Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Let it Rock- Kevin Rudolf. Lewis has chosen Eminem - 'till I collapse as his entrance music. Jake Lewis struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 266.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jake Lewis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Lewis!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander tries to clinch up.

Alexander feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alexander gets to his feet - Lewis follows without any prompting.
Lewis keeps the fight on the outside.

Alexander has closed the distance and engaged Lewis in a clinch.
Alexander tries to pull guard but Lewis won't allow it.
Alexander tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lewis just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lewis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Lewis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lewis tries to keep at a distance but Alexander has taken the fight into the clinch.

Alexander pulls guard successfully.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Lewis wants to stand but Alexander has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Alexander bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lewis's guard.

Lewis is working an open guard so Alexander takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Lewis.
Lewis looks gassed!
Alexander moves in looking to clinch but Lewis pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alexander looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lewis is fending him off so far but Alexander persists. Nope, Lewis circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Escobar Alexander. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alexander will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Alexander wants to clinch.
Alexander moves in looking to clinch but Lewis pushes him off.
Alexander misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lewis.

Lewis has managed to clinch.

Alexander manages to pull guard.

Alexander looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lewis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lewis wanted to stand there but Alexander had control of the position.
Alexander will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alexander. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alexander has momentary wrist control but Lewis slips an elbow through the middle.
Lewis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Alexander working for submissions but it's allowed Lewis to get to half guard.

Lewis decides to stand and escape the position.
Alexander wants to clinch but Lewis slips to the side
letting Lewis counter with a right hand.
Escobar Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alexander fails in his attempt to clinch.

Alexander has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alexander jumps guard but Lewis stands there with Alexander around his waist. Alexander gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Alexander manages to pull guard.
Alexander managing to control the position.
Alexander has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lewis has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Alexander to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lewis is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Alexander pulls down on the head and he's put Lewis to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Escobar Alexander!
