Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reverend Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and I Am BJJ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maynard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to TooL - Sober. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard throws a head kick but BJJ moves out of range.
Maynard just misses with a punch to the body.
Maynard connects with a solid leg kick.
Maynard misses with a head kick.
BJJ takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Maynard jabs BJJ right on the nose. BJJ blinks but takes it well.
Maynard tries a head kick but it misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Maynard.
Maynard misses with a low kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Maynard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maynard keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

BJJ stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maynard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
BJJ keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Maynard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt BJJ.
Nice takedown defense from Maynard. No joy for BJJ on that attempt.
Reverend Maynard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of I Am BJJ.

Maynard gets caught flat footed, as BJJ shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Maynard is trying to control the position but BJJ postures up.
Maynard wants to sweep here but BJJ controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BJJis looking to pass into half guard but Maynard pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Maynard is in guard.

BJJ has his foot on Maynard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maynard works his way back into a safe position though.

BJJ looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
BJJ wants to control the position but Maynard says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Maynard is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's time! Maynard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


BJJ has a takedown stuffed.
Maynard tries to land a front kick but BJJ steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Maynard utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Maynard's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

BJJ takes an elbow to the temple.
BJJ has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Maynard avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
BJJ wants to stall.
Maynard with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Maynard scores a nice knee to the body.
Maynard leaning against his opponent.
Maynard lands an elbow inside.
BJJ is trying to maintain a safe position but Maynard gets an underhook and turns BJJ into the cage.

Maynard comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maynard is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

BJJ's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Maynard keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Good leg kick by Maynard there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maynard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Horrible takedown by BJJ or perhaps it was just good defense by Maynard which made him look bad.
The fight stays on the outside here - Maynard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Maynard is refusing to be controlled, as BJJ sits in half guard.

Maynard wants to improve his position but BJJ is controlling well.
BJJ wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maynard keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Maynard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

BJJ moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Maynard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Maynard tries to get out of the position.
BJJ tries to free his leg and advance position but Maynard is retaining full guard.

A close third round but I Am BJJ just about did enough to take it.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


BJJ dodges the punch combination from Maynard.
Maynard throws a leg kick which misses BJJ's front leg but catches the back leg as BJJ tries to avoid it.

Some bone on bone action there as BJJ checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

BJJ is pressing down on Maynard's thigh, looking to free his foot. Maynard is holding on for now.
BJJ passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Maynard!
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

BJJ looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

BJJ trying to control but Maynard is having none of it.
BJJ landing strikes from the mount.
Maynard tries to lock up and control but BJJ gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BJJ with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
BJJ moves to the back position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maynard rolls, trying to escape but BJJ keeps control of the position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
I Am BJJ has got the better of the ground game so far.

BJJ working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
I really don't envy Maynard right now.
Well, with BJJ on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Maynard is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Maynard staying busy and making it hard for BJJ to control.
Maynard is really stuck here.

BJJ is working for a rear naked choke. Maynard is not defending it well and BJJ has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Maynard refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Maynard's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). I Am BJJ!
