Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lay Praynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Roberts might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ridda. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lay Praynard!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Praynard avoids it really well and circles away.
Roberts shoots in for a double leg but Praynard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Roberts lands with a nice body punch.

Roberts shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Praynard's guard.

Praynard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Praynard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roberts. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roberts is looking to control Praynard's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Roberts avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Roberts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Roberts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Praynard manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jake Roberts will probably get the nod.
