Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Mccaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clay's entrance music is Austin Howard - Heaven Know. A fine choice. Cassius Clay has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cassius Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Mccaughan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Clay coming out on top.
Mccaughan slips under a jab.
Clay defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mccaughan.

Mccaughan clinches up with Clay and pushes him back against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Clay changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mccaughan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Clay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mccaughan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mccaughan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clay as he avoids it easily.

Mccaughan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Clay keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mccaughan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Mccaughan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Mccaughan with the ground and pound but Clay uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Clay is looking to stand up but Mccaughan isn't so interested in that idea.
Clay managing to control the position.
Mccaughan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mccaughan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mccaughan trying to move into half guard but instead Clay has managed to sweep!
Clay wants to control from the top but Mccaughan keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but Mccaughan is retaining full guard.
Clay pushing down on Mccaughan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Clay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mccaughan keeps working.

Clay is working for a kimura here but Mccaughan manages to reverse the position and he's now in Clay's guard.

Mccaughan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Clay, up you get!
Mccaughan takes one to the side of the head.
Mccaughan tries to clinch but Clay moves out of range.
Clay swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Clay misses with a series of wild punches.

Mccaughan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Clay misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mccaughan.
No joy there for Clay, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Clay scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and Mccaughan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mccaughan.
Clay is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Clay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mccaughan tries to free his leg and advance position but Clay is retaining full guard.
Mccaughan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mccaughan postures up and lands a big shot to Clay's brow.
Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Clay misses with a combination

and Mccaughan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mccaughan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mccaughan looking to finish with strikes here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mccaughan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Mccaughan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Clay lands with a straight right. Mccaughan didn't see that one coming.
Cassius Clay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Clay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Clay misses with a combination
and Mccaughan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Clay misses with a double jab

and Mccaughan counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Clay regains half guard.

Mccaughan is trying to work for a kimura but Clay is defending well.
Mccaughan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mccaughan wants to pass to mount but Clay is defending the position.
Mccaughan is looking to take a break and control but Clay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mccaughan connects with a nice short shot to Clay's temple.

Mccaughan is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Clay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Clay throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mccaughan pushes down on Clay's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mccaughan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clay keeps working.
Mccaughan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mccaughan is thwarting Clay's attempts to control the position.
Mccaughan stalling away here and it's allowed Clay to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Clay looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Mccaughan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Clay wants to sweep here but Mccaughan controlling him for the moment.
Mccaughan advances position into side control!
Clay wants to control but Mccaughan postures up.
Clay tries to buck Mccaughan off but Mccaughan is having none of it.

Mccaughan is trying to get an arm triangle but Clay is defending well.
Mccaughan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Clay wants to get back to his feet.
Clay stops Mccaughan from passing to mount.
Mccaughan throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Clay is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mccaughan fails with the takedown
and Clay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mccaughan on the wrong end of a nice hook.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mccaughan.
Mccaughan is breathing heavily.
Clay lands a two punch combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Mccaughan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Clay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Clay drops Mccaughan with a beautiful combination! Mccaughan stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Clay is looking for the KO!


Mccaughan is rocked!
Mccaughan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mccaughan is still on wobbly legs! Can Clay finish him?

Clay drops Mccaughan with a beautiful combination! Mccaughan stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Clay is looking for the KO!
Clay thows a left - swing and a miss!
Clay throws the left hand but Mccaughan avoids the punch easily.
Mccaughan seems to have recovered his senses.
Mccaughan walks into a stiff left hand from Clay.
Clay throws a hook but Mccaughan avoids it easily.
Mccaughan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clay swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Clay tests Mccaughan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Clay falls off balance throwing a combination

and Mccaughan counters with a single leg into guard. Clay didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mccaughan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Clay is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Clay has escaped and now he's on top!
Clay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Clay wants to pass the guard but Mccaughan is keeping the position.
Clay advances position into side control!
Mccaughan is trying to get back to half guard.

Clay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mccaughan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Clay trying to control the action but Mccaughan is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mccaughan is trying to improve his position.
Mccaughan parries the strikes from Clay easily there. Clay is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mccaughan to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clay taking a break here but Mccaughan is having none of it and regains half guard.
Clay is keen to just control but Mccaughan is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mccaughan shoots in for a takedown but Clay shows good takedown defense.
Mccaughan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Clay.

Mccaughan feints and as Clay raises his hands in defense, Mccaughan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mccaughan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Clay manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mccaughan has Clay in his guard.
Clay is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Clay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mccaughan manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cassius Clay showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mccaughan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
