The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
shannon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fernandez throws a nice looking combination but shannon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Horrible takedown by Fernandez or perhaps it was just good defense by shannon which made him look bad.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
shannon is looking for a sweep. Fernandez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fernandez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and shannon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fernandez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but shannon puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
shannon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fernandez keeps working.
Fernandez is trying to control but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
shannon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fernandez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time shannon.
shannon is pressing down on Fernandez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fernandez is holding on for now.

Nick shannon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

shannon shoots for a double leg takedown but Fernandez sprawls well. He's pushed shannon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fernandez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. shannon tries to avoid it but Fernandez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag shannon to the ground. shannon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Daytona Fernandez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
