The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Singletary tries a head kick but it misses.
Singletary looks for a takedown but Skull sprawls well. Chrome Skull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Singletary fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The fight moves into the clinch position. Skull tries for a takedown but Singletary manages to get underhooks.
Skull's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Singletary wants to clinch but Skull slips to the side and Skull counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Singletary! Skull looking to control but Singletary is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Singletary is in all sorts of trouble here.

Skull has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Skull landing strikes from the mount. Skull can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Singletary is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's two minutes gone in the round. Singletary is trying to control Skull's posture but Skull avoids it. Singletary manages to work his way to half guard, despite Skull's best efforts. Singletary kicks off Skull and gets to his feet. Singletary lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Skull circles away quickly and effectively. Singletary throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Skull defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Singletary. Chrome Skull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Singletary. Singletary gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Skull trying to control the position from guard on top but Singletary is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skull works over Singletary with some ground and pound from guard. Singletary is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Skull prevents Singletary from getting back to his feet. Singletary can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Skull controls the pace. Skull stands up from Singletary's guard - Skull perhaps looking for a knockout. Skull leaves Singletary with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Skull dives in and grabs Singletary's left leg, looking for a takedown. Singletary pushes down on Skull's head and hops out. Skull on the wrong end of a nice hook. Singletary pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Singletary is looking to break free of the clinch but Skull has double underhooks. Singletary looking to slow down the pace here. Singletary throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Skull keeping moving, preventing Singletary from controlling successfully. Singletary preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Singletary shoots and misses and Skull counters by moving into the clinch. Skull breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Skull here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Singletary stuffs the takedown attempt from Skull. Skull gets slowly back to his feet. Skull has a takedown stuffed. Singletary will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Skull shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Singletary defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chrome Skull. That's going to take a lot out of him. Singletary forces Skull back against the cage and clinches. Singletary gets underhooks to prevent Skull's takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Singletary is trying to force a seperation but Skull has the dominant position. Singletary is trying to break the clinch but Skull has him pressed against the cage. Skull has Singletary pressed against the cage, preventing Singletary from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Skull fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Singletary. Chrome Skull is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Singletary tries for a takedown but Skull sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Singletary throws a right hand that Skull ducks under and follows up with a left that Skull also avoids with ease. Singletary lands a right hook to the body.
Skull shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Singletary as he jumps to the side. Singletary avoids the head kick by Skull.
Singletary throws a right and a left that both miss. Skull shoots for a takedown but Singletary saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Skull closes this distance looking for a takedown but Singletary circles away. Singletary circles away from the clinch attempt.
Singletary listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Singletary fails with the takedown and Skull counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Singletary's guard now. Chrome Skull overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Singletary is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Skull trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Singletary wants to stand and escape but Skull is having none of it. Singletary manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Skull decides to pull guard. Skull wants to stand up but Singletary is controlling him. Skull controls Singletary momentarily but Singletary frees himself. Skull is working an open guard so Singletary takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Skull darts in trying to clinch and Singletary counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Skull! Skull blocking the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Singletary thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Singletary with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Skull is squirming around, avoiding Singletary's attempts to control the action. Skull is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Skull sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Skull tries to get to full guard but Singletary has control of the leg. Singletary gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Skull is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Singletary's half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skull not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Singletary is looking to improve his position.
Skull is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Singletary tries to kick Skull off but Skull keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Skull looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Skull wants to take a breather but Singletary is having none of it.
