Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Rankka Ankka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Staunton! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ankka stuffs the takedown. Ankka looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Staunton has his foot on Ankka's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ankka works his way back into a safe position though. Ankka throws a big right hand that misses. Staunton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Staunton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ankka defends well. Ankka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ankka got a little sloppy there for a moment and Staunton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ankka has managed to get both his arms back between Staunton's legs - danger averted. Staunton looks gassed! Ankka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Ankka with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Ankka stands up over Staunton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Staunton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ankka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ankka stands up over Staunton, holding his feet. That's one minute gone in the round. Ankka connects with a couple of short punches. Ankka working some strikes from top position. Ankka scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Staunton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ankka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ankka landing some decent shots from guard. Ankka lands a couple of digs. Ankka postures up and lands a big shot to Staunton's brow. Ankka working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Staunton is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ankka stands up over Staunton, holding on to his feet. Ankka throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Staunton is out cold! Ankka lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
