PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Kaufmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Down. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edmund Kaufmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Scott!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott stuffs the takedown.
Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kaufmann but Kaufmann pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kaufmann blocks the body kick.

Scott gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Scott works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Scott must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kaufmann is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaufmann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Scott escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kaufmann gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Scott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kaufmann's guard.

Kaufmann has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Scott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Kaufmann is retaining full guard.

Scott throws out a leg kick but Kaufmann moves out of range and Scott only half commits.

Scott shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kaufmann is trying to defend but Scott finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Scott has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kaufmann is working away from the top position though.

Scott is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kaufmann is just riding it out for now. Scott eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kaufmann is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nathan Scott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Scott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
