PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Hoffmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Klaus Hoffmann has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Klaus Hoffmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffmann fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hoffmann looks to land a combination but Phoenix avoids it well.
Good work by Phoenix as he checks the leg kick.
Phoenix throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoffmann's waist but Hoffmann gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Phoenix off to one side.

A jab-cross combination lands for Hoffmann and sends Phoenix crashing to the mat! Hoffmann follows him down to the mat - Phoenix regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like John Phoenix has been cut.
Phoenix is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Phoenix is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hoffmann wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phoenix keeps working.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hoffmann misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Phoenix bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hoffmann might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Hoffmann throws a series of punches but Phoenix avoids them all with ease.
Klaus Hoffmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phoenix shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hoffmann defends it nicely.
Hoffmann pulls out of a head kick attempt.
