Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredrik Persson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Persson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Johnny Cash - Rusty cage. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fredrik Persson!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.
Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.
Persson is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.

Gracie with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Persson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Persson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gracie wants to take Persson's back but he can't do it this time.

Gracie stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Persson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Persson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Persson wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Persson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Persson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Persson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Persson is aware though and is defending well.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Persson drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Persson off! Persson jumps back into Gracie's guard.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Persson pushes his legs off easily.

Persson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Persson with a flurry of punches that miss.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Persson defends easily.
Persson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gracie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Persson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Persson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Persson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Persson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gracie scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gracie works his way into side control.
Gracie passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Persson!

Gracie is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Persson tries for a takedown but Gracie circles away easily

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Persson is looking to regain half guard here but Gracie keeps moving and retains side control.

Gracie closes the distance and clinches.
Persson tries for a takedown but Gracie manages to get underhooks.
Persson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gracie has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Persson is trying to keep an underhook but Gracie manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Gracie decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Gracie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Persson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gracie gets to his feet - Persson follows without any prompting.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Persson's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Gracie passes into half guard.

Persson actively working from the bottom here.
Persson won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Gracie is working hard here to advance position.

Gracie postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Persson to stand up.

Gracie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Persson is trying to defend but Gracie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Persson is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Gracie stands and throws Persson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fernando Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Persson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Persson misses with a double jab.
Persson is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Fernando Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Persson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Persson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Persson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Persson throwing shots but Gracie is blocking nicely.
Persson wants to pass the guard but Gracie is defending well.
Persson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gracie is trying to escape the mount.

Gracie manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Persson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Persson's back!
Persson can't escape the position.

Gracie goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Persson escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Persson wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
Fernando Gracie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gracie has a closed guard, preventing Persson from standing up.
Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
