PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The WoodTik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and shawn voitsek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The WoodTik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, shawn voitsek!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
WoodTik misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The WoodTik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

WoodTik shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
WoodTik pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. voitsek is keeping the position for now.
voitsek manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. WoodTik manages to get himself to full guard.
WoodTik wants to sweep but no luck.
voitsek postures up.

WoodTik kicks voitsek off and gets to his feet.
voitsek stuffs the takedown.
WoodTik doesn't manage to clinch there - voitsek circles away.
WoodTik could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

WoodTik shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches voitsek napping and manages to drive through into side control!

voitsek explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
WoodTik is breathing heavily.

voitsek fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. WoodTik sprawls well initially but voitsek persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
WoodTik is trying to get back to full guard.

voitsek drops an elbow to the side of WoodTik's head.
voitsek landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
voitsek stalling.
voitsek throwing shots but WoodTik is blocking nicely.
WoodTik moves into full guard.
voitsek wants to control from the top but WoodTik keeps moving.
voitsek showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
WoodTik is trying to control the position but voitsek postures up.

WoodTik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. voitsek doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. voitsek manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

WoodTik is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and voitsek defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
WoodTik is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
voitsek is trying to stand.
voitsek works his way to full guard. Good work.
WoodTik trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
WoodTik sitting in guard, not really doing much.

WoodTik postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
WoodTik lands a couple of digs.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if voitsek can do anything to dispel that myth.
WoodTik prevents voitsek from getting back to his feet.
WoodTik works a leg free and moves into half guard.
WoodTik is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
WoodTik wants to lay and pray for a moment but voitsek keeps working.
WoodTik is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

WoodTik is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

WoodTik is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, voitsek has managed to free his arm - good work.
WoodTik wants to free his trapped foot but voitsek is holding on for dear life with his legs.

WoodTik wants to work for an arm triangle but voitsek is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

WoodTik is working for a kimura but voitsek is defending it quite comfortably.
WoodTik is looking to pass voitsek's guard but actually voitsek recovers to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The WoodTik dominated that round.
That's time! WoodTik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and voitsek counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The WoodTik is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

voitsek shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
WoodTik tries to roll over but voitsek keeps him under control.
voitsek prevents WoodTik from standing back up.
voitsek seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
WoodTik trying to hold on to voitsek's head to control him but voitsek postures up.
voitsek working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

WoodTik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but voitsek pulls his head out easily.

voitsek gets to his feet. WoodTik looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and voitsek counters with a nice double leg into side control. WoodTik won't be happy with that.

WoodTik is looking to work his way out of this bad position but voitsek is controlling him well.
You can see the frustration on WoodTik's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
voitsek is putting a hurting on WoodTik here, landing some big shots from side control.
WoodTik wants to get back to his feet.
WoodTik is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

WoodTik wants to control but voitsek postures up.
shawn voitsek has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

voitsek closes the distance and pushes WoodTik back into the cage.
WoodTik jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as voitsek walks away with a smile on his face. WoodTik gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The WoodTik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
WoodTik shoots and misses

and voitsek counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by voitsek.
voitsek drops down looking for an ankle pick but WoodTik pulls his leg out and moves away.
voitsek scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
WoodTik tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and voitsek counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in WoodTik's guard now.
WoodTik is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

WoodTik is trying to control the action in half guard but voitsek is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
voitsek wants to get back to his feet.
WoodTik seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

WoodTik is trying to work for a kimura but voitsek is defending well.
WoodTik stops voitsek from getting back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
WoodTik passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for voitsek!
WoodTik looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

shawn voitsek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


WoodTik misses with a takedown
and voitsek counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
WoodTik tries to close the distance and clinch but voitsek swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from WoodTik.

WoodTik throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. voitsek was covering up waiting for the punch and WoodTik finishes the takedown easily into guard.

voitsek pushes WoodTik off and gets back to his feet.
WoodTik is looking to clinch but voitsek is avoiding it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

voitsek keeps the fight on the outside.
voitsek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. WoodTik tries to avoid it but voitsek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag WoodTik to the ground. WoodTik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

voitsek gets caught flat footed, as WoodTik shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as WoodTik accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
WoodTik stands and throws voitsek's legs to the side, diving into side control.
WoodTik trying to control the action but voitsek is working from the bottom.
voitsek manages to get back to half guard.
WoodTik works his foot free and advances to mount.
WoodTik raining down shots from the mount!

WoodTik looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

WoodTik working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
WoodTik looking to ground and pound but voitsek is blocking nicely.

WoodTik looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
WoodTik tries to control but voitsek wriggling away.

WoodTik goes for an armbar but he's not got it… voitsek turns into him and now he's in WoodTik's guard.

voitsek is working WoodTik over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
voitsek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

WoodTik is looking for a triangle but voitsek pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

WoodTik is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
WoodTik is working hard here to advance position.
WoodTik struggling a bit here.
WoodTik striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

The WoodTik showed his dominance in that final round.
