Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Milani Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esta Merle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rua might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Armin Van Buuren - Sail. Merle is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: There's no sympathy for the dead part 2. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Milani Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esta Merle! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua shoots in and drives through. Merle sprawls well. Rua moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Merle misses with a double jab.
Merle is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rua ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rua shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Merle wants to clinch up but Rua keeps it at a distance. Rua shoots for a takedown but Merle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Milani Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Merle tries to close the distance and clinch but Rua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Merle as he avoids it easily. Merle fakes the leg kick and cracks Rua in the body. Nice takedown defense from Rua. No joy for Merle on that attempt. Merle throws a leg kick and Rua counters with a two punch combo. Merle tries for a takedown but Rua sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Merle tries to avoid it but Rua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Merle to the ground. Merle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua gets a takedown into half guard. Merle tries to roll over but Rua keeps him under control. Rua is taking a breather. Merle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua is trying to control the action in half guard but Merle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merle trying to control here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Merle tries to roll over but Rua keeps him under control. Rua performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Merle looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Merle looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Rua not landing any meaningful shots this time. Still in half guard, Rua seems content to control. Merle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rua's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rua's back! Merle is trying to stick to Rua's back but Rua is turning into Merle. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Merle's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rua.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Merle is trying to control the position but Rua postures up. Merle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rua is one step ahead there. Rua tries to stand but Merle is controlling from the bottom. Merle wants to sweep but no luck. Rua slips nicely into half guard. Rua takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Milani Rua dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Rua gets the takedown into side control. Merle tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Merle's face as Rua controls the position. Rua decides to stand back up. Rua steps back and let's Merle get back to his feet. Rua thuds his shin into the meat of Merle's side. Rua feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Merle's calf. Rua throws a nice head kick!
Rua will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Merle on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Merle takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Merle wants to clinch and Rua counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Merle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Merle fails with a takedown attempt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Rua. Merle struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rua wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on Merle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Merle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rua kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rua shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Merle moves into the clinch. Rua lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Merle backwards. Merle fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rua pulls him back up using the underhooks. Milani Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Esta Merle. Merle decides to pull guard. Rua looking to sit in guard and control but Merle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rua keeping moving, preventing Merle from controlling successfully. Merle wants to stand but Rua is controlling his posture from full guard. Merle stands and steps away. Rua gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rua looks to land a combination. Merle sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Merle on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Rua. Rua obviously looking to wear him down.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch but Merle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Rua clinches. Merle goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Rua scores with a shot to the side of Merle's head. Merle is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rua is keeping busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merle controls Rua momentarily but Rua frees himself. Esta Merle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Merle is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Merle has his foot on Rua's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rua works his way back into a safe position though. Merle tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rua tries a head kick but it misses.
Merle clinches but Rua breaks the clinch and Rua counters with a low kick, right behind Merle 's knee. Merle shoots and misses and Rua cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merle has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rua. Merle wants to clinch but Rua slips to the side so Rua counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Merle wants to sweep here but Rua controlling him for the moment. Merle wants to stand and escape but Rua is having none of it. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Merle holds on and takes a little breather. Merle keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully. Merle is trying to control the position but Rua postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merle pushes Rua off and gets back to his feet.
Rua wants to clinch. Merle throws a head kick that misses letting Rua counter with a right hand. Rua misses with a takedown and Merle counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Merle. Merle tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Merle is trying to maintain a safe position but Rua gets an underhook and turns Merle into the cage. Merle wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Nice elbow from Rua.
It looks like Esta Merle has been cut. Rua breaks from the clinch.
Merle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rua counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Milani Rua showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rua has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
