0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mathas Holliday! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holliday tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brooks paws at him with a jab and circles away. Brooks has managed to clinch.

Holliday looking to slow down the pace here. Holliday tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Brooks avoids it. Brooks turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Brooks manages to end up in side control. Brooks misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Holliday parries the strikes from Brooks easily there. Brooks is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Holliday to escape.
Brooks is looking to take a break and control but Holliday is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Holliday can't do much from the bottom here. Brooks scores with a couple of short elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Brooks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Brooks is looking to work some ground and pound but Holliday has wrist control. Holliday wants to get back to his feet but Brooks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
