PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zlat Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Chin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chin has chosen Walk Wid Dem Casket - Mavado & Flexx as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Willy Chin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zlat Blaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willy Chin!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Blaze lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Chin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Blaze throws a series of punches but Chin avoids them all with ease.
Blaze misses with a wild combination.

Chin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blaze to the mat! Blaze manages to get full guard.
Blaze has his hands on Chin's head, controlling the position.
Blaze not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chin tries to free his leg and advance position but Blaze is retaining full guard.
Blaze wants to get back to his feet but Chin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chin drops back looking for a leg! Blaze is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Blaze manages to kick Chin off! Chin jumps back into Blaze's guard.
Blaze not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chin with a flurry of punches that miss.

Blaze throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Chin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blaze manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Chin looks gassed!

Chin drops back looking for a leg! Blaze is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Blaze manages to kick Chin off! Chin jumps back into Blaze's guard.
Blaze looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chin wants to pass the guard but Blaze is keeping the position.
Chin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Chin with a flurry of punches that miss.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Blaze holds on and takes a little breather.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Blaze scores with a head kick.
Blaze throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Blaze smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Chin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blaze but Blaze pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Blaze lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chin circles away quickly and effectively.
Chin throws a low kick, looking for Blaze's leg but Blaze calmly moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Blaze.
Blaze lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Blaze misses with a wild combination.
Blaze looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blaze looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chin is fending him off so far but Blaze persists. Nope, Chin circles away and we're back to standing.
Blaze scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Blaze blocks a head kick by Chin.
Chin fails with the takedown
and Blaze connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Blaze lands with a thumping leg kick.
Blaze fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blaze misses with a few strikes there.
Chin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Blaze sprawls well. Blaze wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chin gets slowly back to his feet.
Zlat Blaze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Chin.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Blaze.
Chin fails with the takedown.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Blaze, right into the meat.

Left hook, right uppercut from Blaze.
Chin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Blaze counters with a series of strikes. Chin will be more careful next time no doubt.
Blaze lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Blaze.
Chin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Blaze shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blaze showed some decent athleticism there.
Blaze throwing shots but Chin is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zlat Blaze dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Chin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Blaze's head.
Blaze throws a leg kick which misses Chin's front leg but catches the back leg as Chin tries to avoid it.
Blaze misses with a series of wild punches.

Blaze gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Chin stands up over Blaze, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Chin is looking to work some ground and pound but Blaze has wrist control.
Blaze throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Chin advances position into side control!
Blaze tries to escape but Chin is in control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blaze is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blaze can't do much from the bottom here.
Blaze tries to bench press Chin off him but Chin keeps the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Blaze moves out of range of the leg kick from Chin.
Chin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Blaze counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Chin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blaze's waist but Blaze gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chin off to one side.
Chin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Blaze counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Zlat Blaze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Chin.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chin.
Chin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Chin takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Blaze misses with a leg kick
and Chin counters with an inside leg kick.
Blaze is looking to chop away at Chin's legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Blaze tries to work over Chin's front leg with a kick but Chin checks it.
Blaze misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chin.

and Blaze counters with a thumping low kick.
Chin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blaze manages to avoid it.
Blaze connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

so Chin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Chin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Blaze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Chin has gone for a leg lock! Blaze slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chin's guard.
Blaze tries to stand but Chin is controlling from the bottom.

Blaze throws and elbow that misses. Chin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Blaze's guard. Nice move by Chin!

Chin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Blaze is looking to stand up but Chin isn't so interested in that idea.

Chin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Chin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Blaze feints and as Chin raises his hands in defense, Blaze changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Blaze got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blaze has managed to get both his arms back between Chin's legs - danger averted.

Blaze gets to his feet - Chin follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willy Chin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Blaze's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Chin shoots in and drives through. Blaze sprawls well.

Blaze manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Blaze counters with a three punch combo that has Chin backing up. Chin nods at Blaze to acknowledge the strikes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Chin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blaze's guard now.
Blaze manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chin manages to get himself to full guard.

Blaze postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Blaze is looking to advance position but Chin has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Chin has hold of Blaze's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Blaze manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Blaze is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Chin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Blaze to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Blaze shrugs it off.

Blaze somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

I think Chin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
