Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stelio Kontos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kontos tries to clinch up. George shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kontos as he jumps to the side. Kontos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kontos looks to land a combination but George avoids it well. Kontos tries to clinch but George moves out of range. Kontos throws a series of punches but George moves out of range. Kontos fails in his attempt to clinch. Kontos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from George. Kontos tries to clinch up but George circles away and keeps his distance. Kontos postures up in George's guard and throws a big left but George blocks it. Kontos is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. George trying to keep a closed guard but Kontos is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kontos trying to control the position from guard on top but George is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kontos sitting in guard here, content to control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kontos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. George is trying to control the position but Kontos postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kontos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. George is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. George working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kontos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kontos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kontos throws a right hand that George ducks under and follows up with a left that George also avoids with ease. George avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kontos stalks George and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into George's face. George staggers backwards, shaken. George avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kontos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice sprawl there from Kontos as George shoots in. Kontos looks to clinch and George holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kontos has picked George up - he's going for a ride! Kontos dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Kontos decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. George dodges the punch combination from Kontos.

George works over Kontos's head and body with a nice combination. George clinches up with Kontos and pushes him back against the cage. Kontos wants to get back to striking at distance but George won't allow it.

George gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. George closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kontos circles away. George has momentary wrist control but Kontos slips an elbow through the middle. Kontos prevents George from getting back to his feet. No, Kontos has managed to get both his arms back between George's legs - danger averted. Kontos works over George with some ground and pound from guard.

Kontos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kontos gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows George to score an easy takedown into full guard. George prevents Kontos from getting back to his feet. Kontos has his feet on George's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bret George showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

George drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kontos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kontos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kontos! Kontos working the head with strikes. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

George takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Stelio Kontos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kontos working the head with strikes. Kontos cracks George with an elbow. That is naaassty. George is not in a great position here, taking some shots. George tries to bench press Kontos off him but Kontos keeps the position. Kontos is looking to take a break and control but George is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kontos working away. George is trying to get back to half guard. George takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Kontos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stelio Kontos. Well Kontos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
