PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Nakumura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Eder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Spencer Nakumura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyle Eder!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakumura fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Eder leaves Nakumura with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Eder throws a lazy right hand but Nakumura sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Eder throws a head kick that misses.
Nakumura slips under a jab.
Some wild striking there from Eder.
Eder throws a wild body kick that Nakumura sees coming a mile off.

Nakumura rushes Eder and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Nakumura goes for a takedown attempt but Eder pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spencer Nakumura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Eder throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eder stuffs the takedown.

Eder keeps the fight on the outside.

Nakumura tries to clinch there but Eder circles away.
Eder defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nakumura.
Nakumura wants to clinch up but Eder keeps it at a distance.
Nakumura really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nakumura steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Eder. That one must have hurt.
Eder throws a series of punches but Nakumura avoids them all with ease.
Nakumura throws a lazy head kick
and Nakumura takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Eder connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nakumura misses with a takedown
and Eder counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Eder misses with a wild combination.
Nakumura slips under a jab.
Eder tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nakumura ducks under a wild hook from Eder.
Nakumura fails with the takedown
and Eder counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Eder gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nakumura is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nakumura prevents Eder from getting back to his feet.
Nakumura slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Nakumura wants to control from the top but Eder keeps moving.
Nakumura prevents Eder from getting back to his feet.
Nakumura is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Eder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nakumura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Eder is wriggling around but Nakumura manages to pass to half guard.

Nakumura seems to be working for a kimura but Eder defends the submission attempt.
Eder is trying to stand up here but Nakumura is controlling him well.
Nakumura controlling the pace.
Eder is looking to escape.

Nakumura escapes and gets back to his feet.
Eder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Nakumura takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Eder circles away from the clinch attempt
and Eder counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nakumura thinking.

Eder misses with a two punch combination.
Eder scores with a leg kick.
Good work by Nakumura as he checks the leg kick.
Eder bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Eder just misses with a punch to the body.
Eder takes a swing at Nakumura's ribcage but misses.

and Eder makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Eder. Nakumura does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Eder cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The crowd cheers as Eder lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nakumura doesn't seem phased though.
Eder thuds a left hand into Nakumura's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Eder dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Nakumura sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Eder tries a head kick but it misses.

Nakumura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eder wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Nakumura manages to pass to side control.
Eder is trying to stand back up but Nakumura is controlling him
Nakumura takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Nakumura is controlling the pace.
Nakumura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Nakumura prevents Eder from standing back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ground and pound from Nakumura.
Nakumura slows the pace down in half guard.
Nakumura is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Nakumura working over Eder with some ground and pound. Eder looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Nakumura is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nakumura works his way into full mount!
Nakumura tries to control but Eder wriggling away.
Nakumura is really struggling to control Eder but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Eder is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Eder is squirming around, avoiding Nakumura's attempts to control the action.
Nakumura won't let Eder get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Nakumura looking to control and managing it successfully.
Eder is trying to stand up.

Nakumura quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Nakumura but it's paid off an Eder is forced to tap! Nice work by Nakumura.
