Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaiser Soze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaiser Soze has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaiser Soze!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Cox!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soze showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cox.
No luck for Soze with that takedown attempt.
Mike Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soze tries to clinch up but Cox circles away and keeps his distance.
Cox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cox misses with a double jab.
Soze misses with a double jab.

Soze shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Soze lands a heavy elbow.
Soze tries to control but Cox wriggling away.
Cox is looking to improve his position but Soze isn't that keen on the idea.

Soze jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cox manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Cox manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Soze wants to control but Cox is keeping him busy.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Soze throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Cox working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Soze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Soze manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Soze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Soze is breathing heavily.
Soze slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cox lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Soze!
Soze slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cox is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Soze can't escape the position.
Cox blocks Soze's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Cox with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Soze tries to reverse the position but Cox maintains control.
Cox with shots to the head and body - Soze looks very uncomfortable down there.

Cox prevents Soze from improving his position.
Soze is trying to control but can't.
Cox blocks the strikes from Soze.
Cox trying to pass the guard but Soze defending well.

Soze is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Cox pulls his head out easily.
Soze slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Cox is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Soze rushes Cox and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cox stops a takedown attempt from Soze.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cox crunches a lovely knee into Soze's ribcage.
Cox is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Soze breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cox throws a leg kick which misses Soze's front leg but catches the back leg as Soze tries to avoid it.
Soze has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaiser Soze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Soze tries for a takedown but Cox sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Cox darts in and clinches Soze up against the cage.
Cox landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Cox is fighting off a takedown attempt but Soze is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cox to the mat. Cox regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Cox wants to sweep but no luck.

Cox looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Soze missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Cox had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Soze is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cox Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Soze's back instead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Soze rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Soze wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kaiser Soze will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cox is trying desperately to improve position.
Cox swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Soze looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Soze walks forward, straight into a front kick from Cox.

Soze has closed the distance and engaged Cox in a clinch.
Cox tries to pull guard but Soze won't allow it.

Soze works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cox has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Soze! Can he survive? No! He's out! Cox gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
