Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Olaf Slootweg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Haippa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slootweg comes to the cage accompanied by Lux Atearna. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Olaf Slootweg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Haippa!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slootweg keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Haippa wants to clinch.

Haippa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Haippa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Slootweg is just riding it out for now. Haippa eventually gives up the hold.

Haippa is working for a kimura but Slootweg is defending it quite comfortably.

Haippa wants to work for an arm triangle but Slootweg is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slootweg wants to get back to his feet.

Haippa seems to be looking for submissions.
Slootweg is looking to control Haippa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slootweg avoid being mounted?

Haippa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Haippa looks gassed!
Slootweg tries to get to full guard but Haippa has control of the leg.

Slootweg pushes Haippa off and gets back to his feet.

Slootweg is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Haippa's half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Haippa kicks off Slootweg and gets to his feet.

Haippa tries to keep at a distance but Slootweg has taken the fight into the clinch.
Haippa is working for takedown but Slootweg is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Haippa wants to break free but Slootweg has control.
Slootweg misses with a knee to the head.
Haippa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Slootweg walks away with a smile on his face. Haippa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Olaf Slootweg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Haippa.
Haippa looks to clinch

and Slootweg counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Slootweg misses with a short punch on the inside.
Haippa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Slootweg is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Slootweg throws a knee to the head but misses.
Slootweg tries to land a knee to the head but Haippa blocks with his arms.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Slootweg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slootweg closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Haippa did well to prevent Slootweg getting side control.
Slootweg content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Slootweg seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Haippa for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slootweg stays in close to Haippa's body and controls the position.
Haippa wants to stand but Slootweg is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slootweg sitting in guard here, content to control.

Haippa wants to get back to his feet but Slootweg is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Slootweg prevents Haippa from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Olaf Slootweg dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Slootweg counters with a body kick.

David Haippa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Haippa tries to clinch but Slootweg moves away

and Slootweg decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Haippa's guard.
Slootweg loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Slootweg looking to sit in guard and control but Haippa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Haippa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Slootweg dives on top into guard.
Haippa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Haippa wants to stand but Slootweg is controlling the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Slootweg is stalling in the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

David Haippa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Olaf Slootweg is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Olaf Slootweg just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Haippa misses with a few strikes there.

Olaf Slootweg showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Slootweg has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
