Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapsa Taputtaja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Oglevie! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oglevie shoots in looking for a takedown. Taputtaja tries to sprawl out of it but Oglevie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Taputtaja manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Taputtaja shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Oglevie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Oglevie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Taputtaja gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Oglevie is trying to keep Taputtaja in close.
Taputtaja postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Taputtaja won't allow Oglevie to sweep him here. Taputtaja in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Oglevie looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Taputtaja puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Taputtaja working over Oglevie with some ground and pound. Oglevie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Oglevie trying to control from the bottom.
Oglevie on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Taputtaja is trying to control. Oglevie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Taputtaja trying to control the pace. Taputtaja knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oglevie on the ground. Taputtaja is nestled in close to Oglevie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oglevie is looking for a sweep. Taputtaja is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ground and pound from Taputtaja. Oglevie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Taputtaja lands with a punch from half guard.
Oglevie is rocked! Oglevie wants to improve his position but Taputtaja is controlling well.
Oglevie regains full guard. Nicely done. Oglevie looks gassed! Taputtaja lands a couple of elbows. Oglevie is still in real trouble! Can Taputtaja finish him? Taputtaja is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Taputtaja postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Oglevie covers up, he's hurt! Taputtaja keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Taputtaja and the ref steps in to end the fight! Taputtaja can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
