The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diminitriev lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Diminitriev misses with a hook. Diminitriev closes the distance and lands a one-two. Lilke drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lilke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Diminitriev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lilke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lilke distracts Diminitriev with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lilke controlling from the top position. Lilke stops Diminitriev from standing up. Diminitriev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lilke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lilke passes into half guard. Lilke passes to side control. Lilke slows the pace down. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lilke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lilke working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lilke advances nicely into full mount. Lilke has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Diminitriev's face.

A nice elbow there by Lilke. Diminitriev's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Lilke controlling the position easily from mount. Lilke seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diminitriev for as long as he can get away with.
