The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karski closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Emelianenko to the mat! Emelianenko manages to get full guard. Karski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emelianenko is proving hard to escape from. Karski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Emelianenko is keeping the position for now. Karski wanted to stand there but Emelianenko had control of the position. Emelianenko working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Karski has passed into half guard!

Karski wants to get back to his feet.
Emelianenko is not content to let Karski control the position. Emelianenko slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Emelianenko wants to sweep here but Karski controlling him for the moment. Karski drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Emelianenko dives on top into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Emelianenko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Karski has his feet on Emelianenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Emelianenko misses with a series of wild punches.
Matheus Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Emelianenko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Karski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Emelianenko is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Karski would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Karski looks gassed! Emelianenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Karski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emelianenko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Emelianenko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Karski is one step ahead there. Karski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Emelianenko is keeping the position for now. Emelianenko has a closed guard, preventing Karski from standing up. Emelianenko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Karski defends well. Karski won't allow Emelianenko to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Emelianenko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Emelianenko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Emelianenko! Karski pushes Emelianenko away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Emelianenko gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Karski tries to buck Emelianenko off but Emelianenko is having none of it. Emelianenko misses with the ground and pound. Emelianenko throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Emelianenko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Karski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Emelianenko tries for a kimura but Karski is defending well. Emelianenko thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Karski is trying to buck Emelianenko off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Karski wants to control but Emelianenko postures up. Karski stops Emelianenko from passing to mount. Karski is trying to improve his position. Karski is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Emelianenko working the body and head with strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Emelianenko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Karski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. An elbow from Emelianenko crashes against the mat.

Matheus Emelianenko dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Emelianenko throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Karski gets in close and instigates a clinch. Karski gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Karski from controlling successfully. Emelianenko wants to stand but Karski is controlling the position. Matheus Emelianenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Karski would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Emelianenko is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Karski dives into side control.
Karski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Emelianenko, who protects the arm well. Karski decides to stand back up. Karski is breathing heavily. Emelianenko scores with a one two! Karski had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Emelianenko throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Emelianenko does no damage. Emelianenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Karski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Karski lands in his opponent's guard. Karski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emelianenko is proving hard to escape from. Karski tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelianenko is retaining full guard. Emelianenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Karski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Emelianenko throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

This has been an exciting period of action! Karski decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Karski scores with a takedown into Emelianenko's guard. Emelianenko is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Karski has his hands clasped together but Emelianenko extends an breaks Karski's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Emelianenko.
