PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tazuboku Kayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Bogard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kayo comes to the cage accompanied by Flipsyde - Someday. Jeffrey Bogard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tazuboku Kayo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeffrey Bogard!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kayo getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Bogard shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kayo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kayo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kayo throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Bogard preventing the sweep.
Kayo is trying to control the position but Bogard postures up.
Bogard prevents Kayo from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bogard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bogard trying to control but Kayo is working from the bottom.

Kayo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kayo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bogard trying to control the position from guard on top but Kayo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bogard must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kayo looking for a guillotine here but Bogard defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bogard drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kayo dives on top into guard.

Kayo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bogard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kayo won't allow Bogard to sweep him here.

Kayo forces his way into half guard.
Bogard trying to control but Kayo postures up.

Kayo is trying to work for a kimura but Bogard is defending well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bogard can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bogard is looking to escape.
Kayo tries to stand and escape but Bogard is controlling the position.

Kayo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kayo is breathing heavily.
Bogard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kayo is working away from the top position though.

Kayo is working for a submission of some sort.

Bogard is defending against the submission attempts here by Kayo.

Kayo gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Bogard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kayo is fending him off so far but Bogard persists. Nope, Kayo circles away and we're back to standing.

Kayo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bogard to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bogard throwing strikes but missing.
Kayo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kayo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Kayo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bogard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bogard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kayo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Kayo or perhaps it was just good defense by Bogard which made him look bad.
Kayo tries for a takedown but Bogard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kayo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tazuboku Kayo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bogard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bogard showed some decent athleticism there.

Kayo looking for submissions off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bogard in particular looking to stall.
Bogard wants to take a breather but Kayo is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kayo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bogard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kayo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kayo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bogard's guard.

Kayo drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Kayo as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Bogard screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Kayo! Nice submission victory there!
