PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carling Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Stonehouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stonehouse has chosen Invaders Must Die as his entrance music. Paul Stonehouse will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carling Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Stonehouse!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stonehouse shoots in for a double leg but Foster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Foster shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Stonehouse counters with a low kick, right behind Foster 's knee.
Foster is breathing heavily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Stonehouse, right into the meat.
Stonehouse wants to clinch up but Foster keeps it at a distance.
Stonehouse moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stonehouse throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stonehouse throws a nice looking combination but Foster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Foster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stonehouse throws a big shot that misses.
Stonehouse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Foster paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stonehouse scores with a kick to the midsection.
Stonehouse tries to close the distance and clinch but Foster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Stonehouse throws the kick towards the body but Foster avoids it.
Stonehouse scoring well with a low kick there.
Nice body kick there by Stonehouse.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Foster slips a jab and a cross from Stonehouse.
Stonehouse fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Foster checks it well.
Paul Stonehouse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stonehouse misses with a jab, cross combination.

Foster swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Stonehouse to counter with a crisp jab.
Stonehouse thows a body kick. Foster tries to catch it but that hurt him.
An inside leg kick lands from Stonehouse.
Foster walks into a stiff left hand from Stonehouse.
Stonehouse throws a shot from downtown. Foster moves away and avoids it.
Stonehouse tries to clinch but Foster moves out of range.

Stonehouse tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Foster was well out of range. Poor timing from Stonehouse.
Stonehouse tries a head kick but it misses.
Stonehouse fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Foster is out of range.
Stonehouse throws a head kick that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Good work by Foster as he checks the leg kick.
Stonehouse is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Stonehouse dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stonehouse throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Foster throws a leg kick but Stonehouse moved away.
A low kick from Stonehouse misses

and Foster counters with a shoot takedown. Stonehouse fights it but they end up in guard.
Stonehouse trying to control the position.
Foster throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stonehouse looking to hit a scissor sweep but Foster is one step ahead there.

Stonehouse has his feet on Foster's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Foster feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Foster throwing strikes from guard but Stonehouse blocks nicely.
Foster being controlled here momentarily.

Foster trying to control but Stonehouse is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stonehouse is on top in guard.

Stonehouse drops back looking for a leg! Foster is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Foster manages to kick Stonehouse off! Stonehouse jumps back into Foster's guard.
Stonehouse wants to pass the guard but Foster is keeping the position.
Foster is trying to keep Stonehouse in close.
Stonehouse advances to half guard.
Stonehouse missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Stonehouse thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Foster's head.
Stonehouse seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Foster does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Foster takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Stonehouse looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Stonehouse throws a head kick but Foster moves out of range.
Foster on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Stonehouse. Stonehouse obviously looking to wear him down.
Foster takes a head kick and keeps coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Stonehouse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Foster uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stonehouse.

Stonehouse gets caught flat footed, as Foster shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Stonehouse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Foster won't allow Stonehouse to get back to his feet.
Stonehouse pulls Foster in close to prevent any damage.
Foster tries to free his leg and advance position but Stonehouse is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Foster postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stonehouse is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Foster, into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stonehouse stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Foster swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Foster keeping moving, preventing Stonehouse from controlling successfully.

Foster is working an open guard so Stonehouse takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Stonehouse fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Stonehouse throws a combination that misses

and Foster decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stonehouse's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stonehouse wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment.
Stonehouse is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Foster has gone for a leg lock! Stonehouse slips out almost immediately though and dives into Foster's guard.
Carling Foster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Foster keeping moving, preventing Stonehouse from controlling successfully.

Stonehouse drops back looking for a leg! Foster is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Foster manages to kick Stonehouse off! Stonehouse jumps back into Foster's guard.
Stonehouse wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Foster throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stonehouse escapes and throws Foster's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Stonehouse is trying to get an arm triangle but Foster is defending well.
Foster is trying to get back to half guard.
Stonehouse passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Foster!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stonehouse looking to control but Foster is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Foster tries to control Stonehouse's body but Stonehouse pushes him off. Foster squirms to his side and now Stonehouse has his back!
What can Foster do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Paul Stonehouse is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Stonehouse is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Foster knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Foster for a finish.
Foster just trying to survive but Stonehouse is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Paul Stonehouse.
I've got Stonehouse winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
