Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kain's entrance music is Irresponsible Hate Anthem. A fine choice. Jason Kain could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shane Williams's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Williams!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kain looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams misses with the ground and pound.
Kain seems a little lost for a moment, as Williams dominates the positioning.
Kain tries to escape but Williams is in control.
Williams postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Williams tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Williams is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kain knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Williams decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kain to his feet.
Kain tries to clinch up.
Kain avoids a punch combination nicely.

Williams connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kain's hands.
Shane Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kain looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Williams!
Williams is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kain wants to control the pace but Williams is squirming around nicely.

Williams bucks Kain off and manages to get back to his feet!

Williams throwing strikes but Kain manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Kain tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Williams works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Williams stands and steps away. Kain gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Williams counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kain is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Williams wants to stand but Kain is controlling his posture from full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Williams misses with a two punch combination.
Kain wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Kain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kain tries to clinch but Williams is having none of it.
Williams lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Kain fails with a takedown attempt.
A left and a right from Williams both land. Nice combination.
Kain tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Williams has Kain up against the cage in a clinch.

Williams has picked Kain up - he's going for a ride! Williams dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Williams passes the guard and advances to mount!

Williams throwing strikes here but Kain is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Williams with shots to the head and body - Kain looks very uncomfortable down there.

Williams is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kain has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kain!

Kain stops Williams from standing up.

Williams manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kain tries to clinch there but Williams circles away.
Williams leaves Kain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kain has a takedown stuffed.

Kain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Williams throws and low kick but Kain moves out of range easily.

Williams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Williams scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Kain persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing.

Williams has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kain has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Williams lands a knee to the body.
Kain is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Williams pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kain tries to score a body lock takedown but Williams shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Williams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Williams connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kain's hands.

Williams lands with a nice combination. Kain backs away looking to recover.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kain.
Williams lands a lovely overhand right.
Williams bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kain's head.

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Williams showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kain on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Williams takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Kain's temple.
Williams wants to pass to mount but Kain is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kain circles away from the clinch attempt.

Williams drives through and clinches with Kain against the cage.

Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Williams not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Williams has managed to clinch.
Kain misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Williams lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kain or not.
Kain wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kain jumps guard but Williams stands there with Kain around his waist. Kain gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Williams is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Williams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kain takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Williams throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kain was covering up waiting for the punch and Williams finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kain controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.

Williams drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kain looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kain looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kain!

Williams lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Williams swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kain.

Kain scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kain looks to score with a jab to the body but Williams is just out of range.

Kain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Williams wants to control but Kain postures up.
Williams is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kain slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Williams is not content to let Kain control the position.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Williams manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kain's best efforts.

Kain wants to control but Williams is keeping him busy.

Shane Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
