Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Spiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Widmark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Spiller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Widmark! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spiller looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Widmark! Spiller landing strikes, looking to finish! Spiller blocks Widmark's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Widmark throwing hammer fists to the chest of Spiller. What's that going to do exactly? Spiller avoids the attempt from Widmark to control. Spiller content just to control the position here. Spiller seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Widmark for as long as he can get away with. Spiller has hold of Widmark's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Widmark manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Spiller pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Widmark tries to reverse the position but Spiller maintains control. Spiller trying to control but Widmark is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Widmark wants to hold on but Spiller pushes him away. Widmark bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Spiller bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Widmark's guard. Spiller trying to control the position from guard on top but Widmark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Widmark is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Spiller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Spiller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spiller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Widmark can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Spiller controls the pace. Widmark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spiller's guard. Widmark cracks Spiller with a solid left hand. Widmark tries to free his leg and advance position but Spiller is retaining full guard. Widmark looks gassed! Widmark trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Widmark wants to pass the guard but Spiller is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Widmark works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Widmark stops Spiller from getting back to his feet.

Widmark landing punches. Spiller is looking to improve his position but Widmark isn't that keen on the idea. Widmark misses with a head shot. Spiller really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Widmark sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Spiller is looking to improve his position but Widmark isn't that keen on the idea. Widmark lands with some strikes. Spiller in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Spiller tries to hold on but Widmark pushes him away. Spiller is in all sorts of trouble here.
Widmark raining down shots from the mount! Widmark working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Poor strikes thrown by Widmark there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Widmark tries to lock up and control but Spiller gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Spiller controlling from mount. Widmark swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Widmark is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Spiller working the ground and pound effectively.

Spiller has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Widmark's face.
Widmark tries to hold on but Spiller postures up. Spiller lands a nice shot to the head. Spiller controlling the pace for now. Widmark has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Spiller looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Spiller darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Spiller thows a huge punch but Widmark dodges it nicely.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Widmark might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Spiller kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Spiller trying to control the pace. Widmark is trying to get back to full guard. Widmark is trying to maintain the position but Spiller is very close to passing his half guard. Spiller trying to control the action but Widmark is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Spiller closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Spiller is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Widmark looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Widmark is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Spiller defends well. Widmark is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spiller wants to control from the top but Widmark keeps moving. Spiller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Spiller is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there. Spiller controls from within his opponent's guard. Widmark utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Widmark has his feet on Spiller's thighs here. He's pushed Spiller off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Spiller screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
