PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ray Bobles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zachary Caplan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caplan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by HULK. Zachary Caplan is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zachary Caplan!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobles shoots in but no luck this time.
Bobles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Caplan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Caplan showed some decent athleticism there.

Caplan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bobles is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Caplan trying to control from half guard but Bobles is working away.

Bobles is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Caplan pulls his head out easily.

Caplan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bobles wants to improve his position but Caplan is controlling well.

Bobles is breathing heavily.
Caplan controlling the action here.
Bobles wants to get back to full guard.
Caplan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Caplan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Caplan lands a nice short elbow.
Caplan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bobles.
Bobles wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Caplan controlling the pace.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Caplan is looking for a kimura but Bobles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Caplan to get the leverage.
Bobles tries to roll over but Caplan keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Caplan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bobles looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bobles manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bobles is pressing down on Caplan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Bobles working for submissions but it's allowed Caplan to get to half guard.
Bobles moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Caplan trying to control but Bobles is working from the bottom.

Caplan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Caplan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Caplan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bobles's guard.

Bobles throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Caplan escapes and throws Bobles's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Bobles is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Caplan off and has taken his back!
Bobles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bobles doesn't have the hooks in and Caplan manages to turn into his guard.

Bobles looking for a guillotine here but Caplan defends easily.
Caplan trying to control but Bobles is working from the bottom.
Caplan pushes down on Bobles's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Caplan is looking to take a break and control but Bobles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Caplan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bobles defends it well.
Caplan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bobles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Caplan prevents Bobles from improving his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bobles wants to get back to full guard.
Caplan trying to control from half guard but Bobles is working away.
Bobles is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Caplan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Caplan's back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caplan can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bobles is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Caplan has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Bobles has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Caplan taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Bobles doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ray Bobles!
