Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Rover! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rover misses with a series of wild punches.
Josh Rover seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Rover misses. Rover throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Rover gets caught flat footed, as West shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. West avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rover wants to sweep here but West controlling him for the moment. West stands up and waves to Rover to follow him. Rover throws a sloppy head kick and West moves out of range easily. West avoids the head kick by Rover.
Rover throws a right and a left that both miss. West fails with a takedown attempt. Thud! ouch! good body kick from West - that will leave a mark!
West moves into the clinch. West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rover throws a series of strikes that have West backpedaling.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. West changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rover tries to avoid it but West manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rover to the ground. Rover escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rover looks to land a combination but West avoids it well. West showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rover.
West shoots for a takedown but Rover saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill West. That's going to take a lot out of him. West gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rover looking for a takedown. Rover looks gassed! Rover wants a takedown but no success here.
West lands a nice knee to the body. Rover changes levels and goes for a takedown here. West fights it off and pushes away nicely.
West clinches. West gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. West decides to stand and escape the position. West closes the distance and clinches. West gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! West stands up and waves to Rover to follow him. West scores with a jab to the head.

West gets a trip takedown into half guard. West gets to his feet - back to striking we go! West feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Rover being controlled here, momentarily. West's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. West avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

West closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - West lands in his opponent's guard. West is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. West got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rover has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, West has managed to get both his arms back between Rover's legs - danger averted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. West looking to control the position here, rather than advance. West keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rover's head. Rover had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. West defends it easily. West showing good wrestling skills to control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. West scoring with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill West dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
West clinches up against the cage. Rover turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rover manages to end up in side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. An elbow from Rover crashes against the mat.

Rover working the ground and pound. West sneaks back into half guard. West holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. West moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. West is pulling down on Rover's head. It's preventing any offense from Rover, at least for the moment. West wants to get back to his feet but Rover is in a dominant position and won't allow it. West has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rover off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Rover is breathing heavily. Rover misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Rover gets caught flat footed, as West shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. West scoring with punches to the head and body. West is stalling in the full guard. West decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rover, up you get! West drives through and clinches with Rover against the cage.
Rover jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as West walks away with a smile on his face. Rover gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. West throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rover was covering up waiting for the punch and West finishes the takedown easily into guard. West stays in close to Rover's body and controls the position. Rover working for a triangle but West defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rover looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
West gets to his feet - Rover follows without any prompting. Bill West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. West fails with a takedown attempt. Rover throws a head kick that misses. West thuds his shin into the meat of Rover's side. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rover circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck for West with that takedown attempt. Rover throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
West throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rover's waist but Rover gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing West off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill West. That's going to take a lot out of him. West darts in and clinches Rover up against the cage.

Rover is working for takedown but West is calmly controlling the position for now. Rover gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from West.

Rover takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Rover sprawls well initially but West persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rover looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. West controlling the action here. West wants to take a breather but Rover is having none of it. Rover is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rover tries to bum rush West with a series of wild strikes but West uses good footwork to avoid the assault. West shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. West showed some decent athleticism there. Rover actively working from the bottom here. West is nestled in close to Rover, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. West trying to control from half guard but Rover is working away. Rover tries to get to full guard but West has control of the leg. West moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Rover.

He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rover! Rover is mounted but he's throwing punches. West takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bill West overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rover is trying to escape the mount.
