Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hakuin Ekaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kung Lao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lao has chosen Mortal Kombat-Techno Kombat as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hakuin Ekaku!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kung Lao!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ekaku misses with a hook.
Lao walks forward, straight into a front kick from Ekaku.
Lao fails with a takedown attempt.
Ekaku waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lao.
Ekaku misses with a body shot.
Ekaku dodges the punch combination from Lao.
Ekaku misses with a leg kick.
Ekaku avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ekaku throws a shot from downtown. Lao moves away and avoids it.
Lao attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Lao shoots in but Ekaku avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Lao gets a takedown into half guard.
Lao stops Ekaku from getting back to his feet.
Well, if Lao is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Lao is looking to take a break and control but Ekaku is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ekaku is trying to control but can't.
Lao throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ekaku manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lao lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ekaku's sensitive parts.
Ekaku will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lao is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ekaku sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hakuin Ekaku has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kung Lao.

Ekaku throws a sloppy head kick and Lao moves out of range easily.
Lao misses with a leg kick
and Ekaku counters with a left to the body.

Ekaku lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ekaku fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lao throws a lazy right hand but Ekaku sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice defenses there by Lao.
Lao tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Lao throws a big shot that misses.
Lao moves out of range as Ekaku strikes.
Ekaku lands a nice looking body kick.
Ekaku throws a head kick that misses.
Lao throws an overhand right that lands on Ekaku's shoulder, as Ekaku tries to avoid the shot.
Lao dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A leg kick checked by Lao.
Lao tries to clinch but Ekaku is having none of it.
Lao looks to throw a body kick
and Ekaku counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hakuin Ekaku dominated that round.
That's time! Ekaku's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lao fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Ekaku just misses with a punch to the body.
Ekaku thuds his shin into the meat of Lao's side.
Lao misses with a shot to the body
and Ekaku counters with a solid body kick.
Hakuin Ekaku is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lao shoots in and bounces Ekaku off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ekaku works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ekaku wants to sweep here but Lao controlling him for the moment.
Lao has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ekaku manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lao is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lao is squirming around, avoiding Ekaku's attempts to control the action.

Lao sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Lao wants to improve his position but Ekaku is controlling well.
Lao wants to control but Ekaku is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lao tries to roll over but Ekaku keeps him under control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lao on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lao tries to roll over but Ekaku keeps him under control.
Ekaku keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lao is trying to maintain the position but Ekaku is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lao looking for submissions off his back.
Lao is breathing heavily.
Ekaku thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lao's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hakuin Ekaku will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lao has gone for a leg lock! Ekaku slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lao's guard.

Lao wants to control but Ekaku passes easily into half guard.
Lao has a hand on Ekaku's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Ekaku takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Ekaku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lao is looking to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ekaku throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lao because Ekaku loaded up on that one.
Ekaku avoids the attempt from Lao to control.
Lao is squirming around, avoiding Ekaku's attempts to control the action.
Lao is working to get back to half guard.
Lao blocking the ground and pound.

Ekaku fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Lao tries to hold on but Ekaku postures up.
Ekaku trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lao tries to reverse the position but Ekaku maintains control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lao takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ekaku controlling the pace for now.
Ekaku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lao is looking to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lao wants to hold on but Ekaku pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but Hakuin Ekaku did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Ekaku scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Ekaku connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Ekaku smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Ekaku scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Lao takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Lao moves out of range as Ekaku strikes.
Lao throws a leg kick that is checked
and Ekaku counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ekaku connects with a right hand. Lao shakes it off.
Lao tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ekaku was well out of range. Poor timing from Lao.

Lao misses with a low kick.
Lao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ekaku throws a looping overhand right but Lao ducks down to avoid it.
Ekaku looks for the body kick but Lao saw that one coming.
Hakuin Ekaku is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Good shot there by Lao.
Ekaku avoids the head kick by Lao.
Ekaku slips under a jab.
Ekaku throws a lazy body kick
and Lao counters with a thumping low kick.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A punch combination from Ekaku misses.
A jab from Lao misses.
Ekaku ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lao moves away.

and Ekaku counters with a two punch combo.


It looks like Kung Lao has been cut.
Lao jabs at Ekaku's body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Ekaku scores with a punch to the head.
Lao moves forwards but Ekaku connects with a nice, crisp jab.


Lao is rocked!
Lao ducks under a wild hook from Ekaku.
Lao is still on wobbly legs! Can Ekaku finish him?

Lao loses concentration momentarily and Ekaku pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Lao crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Ekaku finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hakuin Ekaku!
