Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Allen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Runkku Repe! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa J�rvil�inen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Repe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Repe fails with a takedown attempt. Allen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Allen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Repe was well out of range. Poor timing from Allen. Repe looks for a takedown but Allen sprawls well. Mike Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Runkku Repe. Repe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Allen pinned against the cage. Allen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Repe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Repe showed some decent athleticism there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Repe there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Allen keeping control of the position. Repe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Allen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Repe performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Repe trying to control from Allen's half guard. Allen has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Allen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Allen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Repe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Allen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Allen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Allen! Allen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Allen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Allen has hold of Repe's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Repe tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Allen cranks the arm and Repe screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Repe, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mike Allen!
