Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joey Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fidel Gaspar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Edwards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fidel Gaspar! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edwards moves into the clinch successfully.
Edwards wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gaspar has him pressed against the cage. Gaspar keeps control of Edwards as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Edwards wants to break the clinch but can't.

Edwards throws a nice looking combination but Gaspar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A punch combination from Edwards misses. Gaspar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gaspar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Joey Edwards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Edwards misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gaspar shoots in for a takedown but Edwards shows good takedown defense. Edwards bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gaspar's head backwards. Gaspar tries to close the distance and clinch but Edwards swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gaspar gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Gaspar wants a takedown but no success here.
Joey Edwards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fidel Gaspar. Gaspar tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Edwards's elbow. Gaspar has had enough of the clinch but Edwards keeps him there for the moment. Gaspar misses with a knee strike.

Gaspar is trying to maintain a safe position but Edwards gets an underhook and turns Gaspar into the cage. Edwards gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Edwards stands and steps away. Gaspar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Gaspar looks gassed!

Edwards looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Edwards is refusing to be controlled, as Gaspar sits in half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edwards is staying active underneath Gaspar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edwards tries to kick Gaspar off but Gaspar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Gaspar stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Edwards to get to his feet. Gaspar tries to clinch up enabling Edwards to counter with a crisp jab.
That has opened up Fidel Gaspar's cut even more. Gaspar is looking to clinch but Edwards is avoiding it.
Edwards digs a good body shot into Gaspar's ribs. Gaspar wants to clinch up but Edwards keeps it at a distance. Edwards cracks a nice hook into Gaspar's ribs. The fight moves into the clinch position. Edwards breaks the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Gaspar stops a takedown attempt from Edwards.
Gaspar swings wildly with an uppercut but Edwards uses good head movement to avoid it. Edwards wants to break free but Gaspar has control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards keeps the fight on the outside. Edwards shoots in and drives through. Gaspar sprawls well. Horrible takedown by Edwards or perhaps it was just good defense by Gaspar which made him look bad. Edwards connects with a crisp jab. A right-left combo lands from Edwards. A left and a right from Edwards both land. Nice combination. Edwards finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Edwards closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edwards in particular looking to stall. Gaspar is pressing down on Edwards's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gaspar wants to stand and escape but Edwards is having none of it. Gaspar wriggles free and stands up. Gaspar moves into range and clinches up with Edwards. Edwards wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gaspar has him pressed against the cage. Edwards takes a knee right on the jaw!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaspar has taken the fight to the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gaspar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Gaspar connects with a knee to the head.

Gaspar sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Edwards lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gaspar's sensitive parts. Gaspar tries to clinch up and Edwards counters with a left to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Edwards throws a combination that misses and Gaspar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Gaspar tries to clinch but fails miserably and Edwards counters with a lovely shot to the body. Edwards lands with a right hand.
The cut above Fidel Gaspar's eye is starting to cause him problems now. A slapping body kick lands there for Edwards. Edwards throws a nice head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Edwards dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Edwards swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Edwards misses with a low kick as Gaspar jumps back. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Edwards swats away the attempt to clinch by Gaspar. Edwards wants to slow Gaspar down by chopping away at his legs. Gaspar is looking to clinch but Edwards is avoiding it.
Gaspar wants to clinch but Edwards slips to the side and Edwards holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Edwards lands an elbow that stopped Gaspar in his tracks for a moment. Edwards is trying to trip Gaspar. He has hold of a leg but Gaspar is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Edwards persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Gaspar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Edwards sitting in guard, not really doing much. Edwards has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Edwards prevents Gaspar from getting back to his feet. Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Gaspar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gaspar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Edwards controls the pace. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Edwards misses with a body kick. Edwards clinches with his opponent.

Nice shot by Edwards. Some bone on bone action there as Gaspar checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Gaspar wants to clinch and Edwards counters with a solid body kick. Edwards gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Edwards wants to break free but Gaspar has control.

Edwards pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gaspar is out of range and Edwards settles back down. Edwards throws a sloppy head kick and Gaspar moves out of range easily. Edwards throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

Edwards dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gaspar. That did some damage! Edwards throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Edwards will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gaspar up against the cage. Edwards looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gaspar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gaspar is looking to stand up but Edwards isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gaspar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Edwards controls the pace. Edwards is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gaspar has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Edwards is looking to defend but Gaspar has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Edwards! Gaspar pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Edwards taps out and this one is all over!
