PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Yablonski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McKenna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yablonski kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Miracle. John McKenna acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremy Yablonski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John McKenna!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yablonski on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by McKenna. McKenna obviously looking to wear him down.
McKenna wants to clinch up but Yablonski keeps it at a distance.
Horrible takedown by Yablonski or perhaps it was just good defense by McKenna which made him look bad.
McKenna tries to clinch there but Yablonski circles away.
Yablonski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Yablonski is looking to clinch.
Yablonski misses with a few strikes there.
Yablonski scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yablonski.

McKenna tries for a takedown but Yablonski circles away easily
and Yablonski counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yablonski clinches but McKenna breaks the clinch
and McKenna counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

McKenna pushes Yablonski up against the cage in a clinch.

McKenna wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

McKenna successfully pulls guard.
Yablonski works over McKenna with some ground and pound from guard.

Yablonski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Yablonski looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
McKenna manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McKenna looks gassed!
Yablonski is wriggling around trying to escape.

McKenna putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
McKenna really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yablonski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Yablonski wants to control but McKenna is having none of it.

Yablonski slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Yablonski slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yablonski wants to stand but McKenna is controlling the position.
McKenna is looking to stand up but Yablonski won't let him.

McKenna must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McKenna got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yablonski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McKenna has managed to get both his arms back between Yablonski's legs - danger averted.
McKenna tries to stand but Yablonski is controlling from the bottom.

and McKenna counters by moving into the clinch.

McKenna's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McKenna takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McKenna defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yablonski.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy Yablonski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McKenna gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Yablonski counters with a three punch combo that has McKenna backing up. McKenna nods at Yablonski to acknowledge the strikes.

and McKenna makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Yablonski wants to clinch but McKenna slips to the side

and McKenna counters with a single leg into guard. Yablonski didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yablonski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Yablonski throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeremy Yablonski will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Yablonski moves into the clinch.
McKenna fails to pull guard.

Yablonski jumps into guard, dragging McKenna to the mat.
Yablonski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Yablonski tries to get out of the position.
McKenna wants to get up but he can't break Yablonski's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Yablonski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McKenna decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Yablonski, up you get!
Yablonski is trying hard to land a takedown here. McKenna sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Yablonski wants to clinch.

and McKenna counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Yablonski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yablonski lands in his opponent's guard.
Yablonski stays in close to McKenna's body and controls the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Yablonski passes into side control, despite McKenna's attempt to control the position.

Yablonski is trying to get an arm triangle but McKenna is defending well.
McKenna tries to improve position but can't.
Yablonski has knee on belly and moves into mount.

McKenna tries to reverse the position but Yablonski maintains control.
Yablonski tries to control but McKenna wriggling away.
Yablonski tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Yablonski throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! McKenna has his hands clasped together but Yablonski breaks the hold and McKenna is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Yablonski!
