Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aguiar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Sung il (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kim Sung il has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jose Aguiar's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jose Aguiar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kim Sung il!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aguiar shoots in looking for a takedown. Sung il tries to sprawl out of it but Aguiar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sung il manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Aguiar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Aguiar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Aguiar looking to control but Sung il is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Aguiar looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Sung il tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Aguiar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sung il turns into him and now he's in Aguiar's guard.

Aguiar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sung il pulls his head out easily.

Aguiar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Aguiar.
Sung il is pushing down on Aguiar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Aguiar is fighting to maintain full guard but Sung il has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sung il seems to be working for a kimura but Aguiar defends the submission attempt.
Sung il is thwarting Aguiar's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Aguiar is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Aguiar is breathing heavily.

Sung il wants to take a breather but Aguiar is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sung il is pressing down on Aguiar's thigh, looking to free his foot. Aguiar is holding on for now.

Sung il wants to free his trapped foot but Aguiar is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Aguiar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sung il bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sung il remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Aguiar wants to control his opponent's hands but Sung il gets his hands free.

Sung il really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Aguiar.
I looks like Sung il might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Aguiar with a poor takedown

and Sung il counters with a shoot takedown. Aguiar fights it but they end up in guard.
Aguiar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sung il wants to control from the top but Aguiar keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sung il is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kim Sung il just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Sung il counters with a shoot takedown. Aguiar fights it but they end up in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kim Sung il has got the better of the ground game so far.
Aguiar is trying to control but can't.
Aguiar won't allow Sung il to pass to mount.

Aguiar tries to get to full guard but Sung il has control of the leg.
Sung il performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Sung il has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sung il manages to capitalize on a mistake by Aguiar to take his back!

Sung il looking for the choke but no joy.

Aguiar fending off the submission attempt from Sung il.
Sung il is trying to stick to Aguiar's back but Aguiar is turning into Sung il. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sung il's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Aguiar.

Aguiar has gone for a leg lock! Sung il slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aguiar's guard.

Sung il is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aguiar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
