PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Monya Katz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Peter Parker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Parker!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker misses with a two punch combination.
Parker slaps away a takedown attempt from Katz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Katz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Parker lands a jab-cross combination.
Katz on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Katz misses with a takedown attempt - Parker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Katz tries to clinch but Parker moves out of range.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Parker throws a right hand that Katz ducks under and follows up with a left that Katz also avoids with ease.

Parker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Katz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Katz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parker is one step ahead there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Parker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Katz circles away quickly and effectively.

Katz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Katz is standing up over Parker. Parker looks to escape but Katz dives into side control.
Katz wants to stand but Parker is controlling his arm.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Parker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Katz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Parker lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Katz at a distance.
Katz throws a head kick but Parker moves out of range.
Parker lands with a nice combination. Katz backs away looking to recover.
Parker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Monya Katz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Parker misses with a two punch combination.

Parker pushes Katz up against the cage in a clinch.
Parker lands a hook that snaps the head of Katz backwards.
Parker tries to pull guard but Katz holds him up against the cage and eventually Parker drops back down to his feet.
Katz is trying to drag Parker to the mat but Parker just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Parker wants to get back to striking at distance but Katz won't allow it.

Peter Parker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Parker misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Parker thowing shots but they're missing.
Parker wants to stand but Katz is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Katz is desperately trying to improve his position but Parker has a good base and remains in mount.
Parker wants to control the pace but Katz is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Katz is trying to escape the mount.
Parker wants to stand but Katz is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Parker tries to control but Katz wriggling away.

Parker avoids the attempt from Katz to control.

Parker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Katz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Katz tries to lock up and control but Parker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Peter Parker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Parker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Peter Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
