PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam McAdams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Adam McAdams was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam McAdams!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones has McAdams up against the cage in a clinch.
McAdams wants to stall.
Jones using the Thai plumb to throw knees but McAdams has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Jones keeps control of McAdams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Jones pushes McAdams up against the cage in a clinch.
McAdams fails to pull guard.

McAdams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jones fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McAdams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from McAdams.
Jones tries to clinch up but McAdams circles away and keeps his distance.
McAdams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but McAdams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McAdams wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McAdams's guard now.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McAdams wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
Jones slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from McAdams.

McAdams has a hand on Jones's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Jones takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
McAdams is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McAdams closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. McAdams pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McAdams is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
McAdams uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but McAdams sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McAdams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McAdams tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McAdams to the ground. McAdams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McAdams uses from the top position.
McAdams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McAdams is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Horrible takedown by McAdams or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.

McAdams drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jones gets a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McAdams tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Adam McAdams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones forces McAdams back against the cage and clinches.

Jones tightens his grip and picks McAdams up, before dumping him to the ground. McAdams manages to land in guard.
